Everything happens for a reason.

Every reason was worthy of what happened.

Every single thing has a reason why they were made.

But why does it still hurt her? Why does she see the occurrence instead of the reason? Why does she choose to see it?

"Good morning." Everyone gave me a confused look while I just continued what I am doing.

I continued piling up the papers I've read for the whole week. It is about the case of a deceased guy whose death has been the talk of the town since it got opened.

Now I understand why she doesn't want to open the case of this man.

Kasi magagambala siya.

His name will be the headline of the newspapers.

His case will be the talk of the town.

Madadamay ang mga taong related sa kaniya.

And a heartbreaking news will be spread out...

"Attorney Shanice!" An intern ran towards my direction, panting so bad.

"Yes?" I asked and looked at her confused.

I was surprised when she gave me a long envelope. Nagtataka ko 'yong tiningnan bago ko siya tanungin.

"What is this for?" I asked while opening the envelope.

And I was surprised when I saw a very familiar face. The face that broke my heart into tiny pieces as I remember the past, the past that I tried to bury alive. And along with the past is the misery applied to it.

I turned the page and looked at it. I read every text written in there. My breathing got heavy, I felt my heart being suffocated by the pain.

"Nahanap na po yung pumatay sa kaniya," the intern said. Nanlabo naman ang mga mata ko.

I shook my head, I tried shaking off that thought too.

"Attorney---"

"Hindi siya 'yon!" Padabog kong binaba ang mga papeles. "Hindi niya magagawa 'yon!" I held onto the table to support my balance, "Hindi! No!"

"Attorney, I am sorry. But the hearing will start next month. And they want us to send them one of the best lawyer---"

"I'll go! Patutunayan kong inosente siya. Hindi niya 'yon magagawa sa kaniya."

I walked out while holding my chest, crying.

I am convincing myself na hindi niya magagawa 'yon, hindi niya magagawa ang gumawa ng ganoong krimen.

Because the person who was accused is one of the most special people in my life.

And I cannot afford to lose that person.
