meet Jake

Well, hello there, male, female, or non-binary reader. My name is Jake, and I'm just a typical teenage boy. I wake up every morning, eat breakfast, go to school, and get picked on as usual. The only thing that is unusual, though, is the people who pick on me. As you may have guessed, the world I live in is filled with superpowers. A whole lot of years ago, there was a massive flash of red light. Nobody knew what it was at first. But soon things started getting crazy, and a bunch of people started gaining superpowers. Some superpowers were ordinary. Super strength, super speed—you name it—but the more powerful people who had telekinesis, mind control, etc. were put on top; they were taken by the government for personal gain. Of course, the people were not having it, and with their newfound abilities, they revolted against the government. Of course, that was hundreds of years ago. At this point, you may be wondering what year this kid is in. Well, I'll tell you, my friend, we live in the year 2121. Yeah, it's pretty weird. But you want to hear something even weirder? Yours truly happens to be the first person in centuries to be born with no powers. I know what you guys are saying. Oh, that sounds like a typical hero in an anime. How are you going to inherit someone else's powers? No, I'm powerless because, in this world, it's not my story. I'm just a side character; I'm just friends with the main character. His name is James, and he's tall, good-looking, and funny. Whatever you think a MC should be like, that's what he's like. I'm honestly surprised that we're even friends. I'm a powerless nobody, and he's super powerful... Somebody, and I hardly believe it myself, out of everyone in our class, he chose me to be his friend. I get picked on a lot because I'm powerless, but every time I do, he's always there to get me out of it. He jokes about how I'm a magnet for trouble because, no matter where I am, trouble always seems to fall. going to the mall, a supervillain attack's on a train, a villain attacks, going to my grandma's house, you guessed it, a damn villain attacks, but then he shows up out of the blue, knocking out the villain with ease. He is always there to save me; he calls my misfortune my superpower. But he says no matter what, he will always be there to save me, so for that, he will always be my hero. But enough exposition; let's get to the story.
