Chapter 5
"Stay away from me!" I cried. He frowned.
"Relax, I will not hurt you. If you weren't so stubborn, there wouldn't be the need for me to do a body search."
"What?" Panic clutched at my throat as the words Body search echoed in my mind.
"I'm afraid you leave me no choice."
"You'll find nothing. What do you want, money? Jewellery?" I questioned.
"No babe, you're a smart girl. Make another guess. We all know what you do for a living."
"No, I don't know." At least I didn't know what the person who he has mistaken me for did. "Tell me, so I know what I'm being accused of hiding."
He exhaled impatiently.
"Drugs, obviously."
"Drugs?" Nausea welled up in my stomach.
"Oh, come on, stop playing with me. I know who you are. Stop pretending that you don't know what I'm talking about. You're good, let me congratulate you. You skipped the security check. How much did you offer them?"
My heart doubled its rhythm as I gazed at him, stunned.
"Do I look like a drug smuggler?"
"Smugglers are normal persons, you know. It's not as if they have written on their face who they are." He derided.
"I have never touched drugs in my life. You're crazy. Let me go, damn it! I'm not a drug smuggler, you're making a huge mistake."
"We'll see. I hope you hid them where I can find them or else I'll have to do a closer inspection." He said in a low voice. I felt my cheeks heat.
"What do you mean?" I murmured.
"You could have hidden it anywhere, even in your private parts, for what I know."
My eyes widened and my stomach flipped as I imagined his hands peeling down my trousers and underwear and touching me intimately.
"No! Listen to me, please. I beg you to believe me. I'm not a drug smuggler, I've never done one crime in my life. maybe yes, when I was a child, I stole a gummy bear from a shop, but that was it."
He chuckled. "A gummy bear? A great way to start your crime career for sure. Your dear daddy must be really proud of you. He may have not had the boy he wished for, but you're doing great at keeping the family business going. And now that you're merging your business with Peppino De Luca, you'll be invincible."
"My dad is a retired banker and for your information, I have two other siblings, a sister, and a brother. I'm not the Catherina Mitchell you want!"
My statement momentarily silenced him. I could see the uncertainty in his eyes. Was he finally having doubts? Maybe he realized that there was a mistake, and that I wasn't lying.
"No more talking." He said then. "Let's start."
I swallowed deeply as he got nearer. I panicked and struggled to get free.
"Tell me where they are if you don't want me to touch you."
The way he looked at me caused an odd flutter in my chest and throat. Perhaps it wasn't such a bad thing after all. I was going to be touched by this gorgeous man. Okay, the reasons weren't the ones I was wishing for. He wasn't attracted to me or anything. No romance is involved, but in the end, the result will be the same. Better being touched by him than by Michael. I remained silent, gazing at him. I looked at his hands, imagining them over my body. As I pictured him doing erotic things, I felt the heat coming from inside of me. What the hell, girl, is this the moment to think about these things?
