Ushijima was kneeling on the cold hospital floor, his tears refused to stop.
The boy was trembling, his frequent sobbing prevented him from breathing regularly.
A doctor had even approached him, but Wakatoshi didn't even realized it.
An hour later the brown-haired boy was still there, now sitting at one side of that corridor.
A few tears from time to time kept falling down his face, but now the boy was staring into space.
Ushijima was devastated, the only thing he wanted to do right now would be scream, scream as loud as he could.
On the other hand, what could he have done, come back to his house? And how does it work if your home is not a place, but a person?
The boy put his hands in his pockets.
So on the right one, he found the small sheet of paper that Tendou had asked him to take.
He wasn't even thinking about it, but now he was there, holding that paper to his chest, like it was the last piece of Satori he could still keep with him.
His hands were shaking, but he slowly managed to open the letter anyway.
He read the first words.
"Wakatoshi-kun!"
And immediately his eyes filled with new tears, which began to gush quickly down his cheeks.
"Do you remember the first time we went to that beach?
Yes, surely, I don't know how many times I have told you this by now.
Do you know what particularly impressed me about Wakatoshi?
I loved the sunset.
Not that I had never seen one, for goodness sake, but watching one with you was so much nicer.
I wish I could have seen many, many more with you Wakatoshi-kun, but that's okay with me: thanks, thanks to you I lived a wonderful life.
Thanks to you, that beach has been and will forever be my little paradise, I'm sure, and it couldn't get any better than this.
And you know what they say, don't you?
A sunset over the sea represents an end, but also a new beginning!
So having said that, Wakatoshi-kun go on, go on and keep smiling, I am always with you.
- your Tendou"
A great deal of tears began to fall on the small letter Satori had left to Wakatoshi.
Once he finished reading it, he closed it and he put it safely back in his pocket.
Ushijima still didn't believe it, he felt short of breath.
He felt his chest heavier and heavier, but despite this, it was empty without Tendou near him.
With the little strength he had left, Ushijima rose from the ground, supporting himself with the help of the wall.
He headed for the hospital exit, putting one foot in front of the other had been harder than he thought.
Once outside the boy tried to wipe away the tears that continued to gush on his face, and more or less he succeeded, despite other tears threatened to come out of his eyes at any moment.
Wakatoshi knew where he had to go.
He braced himself and started walking.
His footsteps were slow and heavy, and the boy's head started spinning a little.
Despite this, he managed to walk for another twenty minutes, almost dragging with him the weight he felt on his chest.
He came a few meters from that familiar small wall, and another tear fell on his face.
Desconsolate he walked towards the wall, managing to climb over it only after a few attempts.
The stairway seemed much longer and more tiring than the previous times, despite the fact that he was going downhill.
Maybe it was because Ushijima's legs were still shaking, and so he had to go down much slower to avoid falling.
Once he arrived, he saw in front of him the same panorama as always, although different from the last time.
This time the sea was rough, the wind was blowing, and the waves met the beach much more abruptly.
Ushijima went to the place where Satori and him always sat and began to observe that landscape, which the red-haired boy liked so much.
Wakatoshi scanned the view, while the wind ruffled his hair more and more.
The beauty of that place, Ushijima thought, had never been the place itself, it had been spending there that couple of days with Tendou, seeing him happy, smiling.
The beauty of that place wasn't the place itself, it was how it made Tendou feel.
Ushijima was now looking at the moon, which was quite low in the sky and colored the sea with bright streaks.
A first drop of rain fell on his face, simultaneously with a tear.
Of both, others followed.
"So this was your paradise, huh?"
He sighed.
"Tendou Satori, you were mine."
~ Farewell, my paradise. ~
the end
