Zhongli gripped my hand tightly looking into the distance. "I have stood by my people for many years and... I'm afraid my time is over. Y/n tell me, how much do you know about Rex Lapis." Rex Lapis? " You mean the god that rules over Liyue? I don't know to much but I do know after the archon war he led the people of Liyue to Liyue Harbour and started a new civilization. He's also the god of contracts and the leader of the adepti." He sighed. "You know more than enough then... I haven't exactly been telling you the truth." A nervous feeling starts building up inside me. "I'm afraid that something terrible will happen over the course of the next few days and all because of me. Obviously you may not believe me when I say this but... I am Rex Lapis." I stared at him partly confused and in awe. I didn't know whether I should just along with his lie or believe him. He smiled awkwardly. "Judging from your reaction I take it you don't believe me?" I smiled back awkwardly and looked away. "I-I don't know what I'm supposed to say to that. Can you do some sort of I don't know... magic trick to prove it somehow..?" I waved my hands in a silly gesture. He chuckled. "Well I can do most things that any geo vision user does. Creating stones isn't too surprising." I crossed my arms and thought about it. "Hmm I guess you're right."
"Well, lets say I do believe you, why would you tell me this?" He looked away for a moment before turning back. "I'll admit I was a bit reluctant to tell you but you've proven to be a trustworthy friend. And well, to prepare you for what's going to happen." I stared confused. "What do you mean you're preparing me?" He looked out into what seemed to be an endless sea. "I'm stepping down from being an archon, from being Rex Lapis." I quickly stood up from my seat. "W-what do you mean you're stepping down?! Liyue needs someone to guide them!" He sighed and smiled sadly. "Liyue is a strong nation but there will be a time when the world will move forward without gods to rule it. I've seen change happen and I'm sure Liyue will be able to move on without me to guide it." No matter how much I thought about it, he was right. There will be a time when the archons will be forgotten. This is surely not what I expected on my first date...
"Zhongli... I appreciate the heads up and all but... what will happen after you step down?" He stood up and walked over to me. Gently grasping my hand, his eyes still staring out towards sea. "I've been living amongst my people for a while now. It's been quite pleasant and being with you made it all the better. I'd like to spend the rest of my days by your side." He smiled kindly to me with a faint blush on his face. I was unaware of how long I spent staring at him. I felt my face flush and quickly looked away. I thought he couldn't get any cuter. "What do you say Y/n? Would you like to spend the rest of your life with me?"
