Alex spent weeks trying to find Willie. He assumed that he was kept at the club but there was no way he was going there. He couldn't risk getting caught by Caleb. Alex hung out in the alley next to the club some nights just to see if Willie would come out but there was never any luck until last night.
Alex heard the side door of the club open and the crinkling of a trash bag. The person that stepped out wasn't Willie as Alex had hoped. It was Dante.
"You're Alex right?" Dante asked, throwing the trash into the dumpster that sat against the wall of the club.
"Y- yeah. That's me." Alex gave a soft smile, staying in the same spot he was standing when Dante found him.
"Um... if you're looking for Willie, he's not here. Caleb isn't either. No one's seen him since that night you guys played the Orpheum."
"Oh. Okay. Thanks anyway."
Dante nodded and walked back inside.
Alex genuinely wondered where Willie could be. He's checked the museum, Hollywood Boulevard, and all the places they've gone. Nowhere to be seen.
Alex heads out to the beach. The sun is setting and it's pretty but not as pretty as the boy that Alex pulled into a tight hug a couple of weeks ago. God, he missed him. He was the one person that could answer Alex's questions and make him laugh. As Alex is strolling down the beach he notices a figure that looks faintly like Willie that is running towards him. Alex can't tell if it's the skater or not with it being so dark but when he gets closer he sees his face a bit better so he starts running towards Willie. He noticed that he's now sobbing as they envelop in a hug like the one they shared at the Orpheum.
And that's when Alex wakes up. As that one Metric song is titled, "Dreams So Real," he was really suffering this time. He hated dreaming-or should he call them nightmares. Every night he had them. They were either happy ones, like the one he just had, or he relived events like his parents kicking him out or his death and watching his best friends die.
He got up and headed into the bathroom and took a sip of water. (Ever since Julie saved them, they've been able to eat and drink).
He looked at himself in the mirror while bent over the sink.
"It's just a dream." He whispered to himself.
He decided to take a walk on the beach to clear his head. It might've been five in the morning but he didn't care and no one else did because they couldn't see him. His bandmates were fast asleep and he wasn't going to snoop into Julie's room and disturb her.
As he walked down the beach, he noticed a figure, staring out at the ocean, holding a skateboard in one hand and their long hair blowing in the ocean breeze. He blinked a few times trying to decipher if this was real or not. He pinched himself. Yep. Definitely real. He ran over to the person.
"Willie?" He was on the verge of tears.
The figure turned to face him. "How- how do you know my name?"
Alex was confused. He let out a breath. "What do you mean? It's Alex."
"Sorry, but I don't know an Alex."
"Willie, what are you talking about? You know me. You crashed into me with your skateboard and answered all my questions about ghost stuff and we hung out and went on... I mean... I wouldn't call them "dates" but that's kinda what I wished they were because this whole time I've been falling hopelessly in love with you." Alex let out another breath. This time tears were falling from his eyes.
