HEIDI
I could hear the whispers again, the sounds of the machines, nurses and doctors fell away in an instant. The man's eyes followed me as I halted in my tracks. A slight curl on his lips like he knew who I was, like he had been waiting for me this whole time. I had caught him just in time, before he could smother his patient with a pillow.
I channeled my energy and held out my palm. "Frozium!"
My energy felt cold.
The man's lopsided smile stretched into a wide sneer, his eyes turning black. I wanted to use the energy anyway but Tristan would see me.
"Do it," the man taunted. "You know you want to."
I inhaled, eyeing him through my eyelashes.
"You cannot deny what is within you," he said, voice morphing into something deeper and sinister. Like Synto.
The whispers in my ears got louder. It was in a language I could not understand. My head was pounding. The coldness in me swirled and gripped every bone and muscle. I felt it flow through my veins and to my fingertips.
Instead, I swung a fist. A fist fight was always safest.
