Maybe someday the sun would rise for us, and maybe someday all the fears would be drowned by our dreams.
But maybe it wouldn't.
And if all she had was this moment right now. This moment with her person, she didn't want to waste it thinking about the goodbye they would have tomorrow when she left for her dream college.
She wanted to remember the way her body felt with Allison's arms wrapped around her. How safe and loved she felt by the comforting touch. The way her lips would chase Allison's, not ready to lose the feel of her soft lips on hers or the taste of cherries from her favourite lip balm.
She wasn't ready to say goodbye. She wasn't ready to lose the one person that meant everything to her. That changed her whole world.
She knew she loved Allison. Loved the way Allison's brown eyes would sparkle and soften whenever they found her emerald green staring back. The way two deep dimples would appear in her cheeks whenever she smiled or laughed brightly. She loved her kindness, her strength, her ambition, her love for animals, her sense of humour. She just loved her.
And as they laid together, wrapped up in each other's arms, deep in the woods behind her house, she felt peace.
The moon was full and cast an ethereal glow around the forest, the stars sparkling bright like diamonds across the dark sky. She listens to the trees blowing in the wind, the sound of wildlife moving around through the woods and closes her eyes.
She feels Allison's soft lips press gently on her forehead and feels her eyes mist with tears. She didn't want to lose this. She wanted this, wanted her. She didn't want to give this up.
But she had to.
Allison wouldn't let her give up her dream of Yale for her. She knew that.
So, she has tonight.
