It was the peaceful silence that woke me. A show played on the flatscreen, the volume turned all the way down, and day old Chloe wasn't on my chest how she was prior to me falling asleep and resting how Jade told me. I look to the couch and find Xavier's long body spread across it and Chloe sleeping peacefully on his bare chest.Jade crossed my mind and it's been two hours since she and Cairo left and part of me felt worry. But I let it disappear when Andi decided to FaceTime. "Hey, you. How are you and Baby Chloe?"
"Good. I actually got to sleep, and she's laying with X."
"Chile, she's a Daddy's girl already." She and me chuckled, "I know you're ready to go."
"Hell yes." I sighed before saying, "Jade came a few hours ago, her and Cairo."
"So she's back and didn't call me? That hussy." Andi said.
I chuckle at her joke. "We'll have our girl's night when she comes back."
"Come back? She just got back from Los Angeles today. Where's she going now?"
"New York for work."
"Cairo keeping her busy, ain't he?" Andi said, "She going by to see her mom? She hasn't been up there in a while."
"Ten months." I specified.
"I know this was crazy, but did you happen to ask her about what Joie said."
I knew she was referring to the abuse. "Yeah, and she told me nothing like that is happening."
"So that's the end of that."
"Yes it is."
"Knock, knock." My eyes averted to the door that opened and the afternoon nurse came in with two trays. "Uh-oh baby and Daddy is sleep. I have lunch for you and Mr. Rhodes."
"Let me call you back, Andi."
"Ok. I'm gone try to call Jade. Kiss Coco for me."
"Okay." the FaceTime ended, "Please tell me that's only a bowl of milk."
Nurse Anderson chuckled. "No ma'am. Got you a nice fiber meal."
