It was that day, the day I got my new car. It was my 17th birthday, my mother got it for me. I was so exited when I saw it out in the driveway.

My mom isn't very good at making money as she works as a fast food worker. The only thing she spends her money on is food and clothes for me that are cheap and off brand, which is definitely not in style. Sadly, the food my mother can afford is half a bag of groceries. If she was working late, she would bring home two burgers for each of us. We barely have enough money to pay off any bills, but what really matters is that we actually have a roof over our heads.

My dad passed away a few years ago during an airplane flight, he was going to surprise me when he got back from Florida. He was on a business trip for a few months. It felt like years he was gone. I put so much pressure on myself because I thought it was my fault it happened. I wish he got to see how excited I was seeing this car. He was the best dad I could of ever asked for. My life wouldn't of been the same without him. Sometimes I talk to myself thinking that he's listening, but in reality, I know he's not.

This car was the car of my dreams. It was a Honda Civic, the car everybody was asking their parents for. I was confused because as my mom doesn't have a lot of money, how could she possibly be able to buy a car? Especially a Honda Civic. I stayed quiet with a look of shock on my face. My mother explained that she's been saving up money for the thing I've always wanted the most, a Honda Civic. "Thank you mom!" I yelled, running towards the car. I got inside, sat down in the drivers seat, and enjoyed the smell of the freshness of a new car. The car was blue with a black antenna sticking straight out of the back. There were fresh, shimmering leather seats. "Dad would of loved this car" I thought. I ran back inside my house to grab my favourite CD, "Where are you going?!" Exclaimed my mother, I ignored her. I grabbed the CD beside my bed, it was The Beetles greatest hits. I ran back to the car and sat back down where I was seated beforehand. I tried putting the CD in the CD player, located under the radio station, but there was already a CD inside it. I took it out and on one side of the CD, there was writing that spelt, "Dad's favourite songs". I almost cried but I held the back the tears, I put my dad's CD back in the port, rolled down the window and told my mother I was going to Milos house, my boyfriend. She put a thumbs up and as I was pulling out of the driveway she yelled, "I hope you like it!", "Oh I do mom, I really do." I thought to myself.
