"Dakota..." The ink black-haired kid called to their friend who has been staring off in the distance for a while now, almost as if she was stalking something. A headache ruptured through her head.

A black cat sitting next to a small exit in the gate groomed itself calmly as the brown-haired girl stares it down from the shady three she sat under with Alex. "DAKOTA!" Alex yells in her ear to snap her out of her gaze.

The cat is startled by the shriek and runs off towards the school's older class playground. "Ow..." Dakota sighs in disappointment for losing sight of the feline. "Why do you scare it away if you're the one who wants to catch it?" She asks her friend.

Alex lazily chuckles and turned back to face the tree. "Heh, we can't catch it by chasing it." They claim confidently. "I tried that yesterday..." Rubbing the back of their neck in embarrassment they quickly move the topic along with a suggestion. "Maybe if we save some food from lunch we can come back after school and get it to come to us."

Dakota stands up and pats the dirt off the back of her shorts as she replies. "The cafeteria doesn't let us take food outside of it, and Mr. Terry's nose can smell food from across the entire building." Alex sulks. "We'll figure something else out.

The duo finishes the school day and they head outside to wait for Dakota's aunt to pick them up, during the wait it slowly started pouring from the heavy clouds that were forming during their class time, waiting to rain down on them as soon as they stepped outside.

Alex stared at the sky in disappointment and whined. "Rain...?!"

Dakota pouted silently cursing out the weather person. "Thanks Channel 12..."

Alex panics and grabs Dakota's shoulders, beginning to shake her back and forth while crying. "Dakotaaaaa! The cat! He's gonna get weeeeeeet!"

"The cat's a girl." She corrects Alex and grabs their wrists to stop them from shaking her. Before she could think of something to say to calm them down she glances to the side to see a familiar dark figure walking their way. "Oh look, it's our savior." She says weakly to distract Alex and feel the relief of the release on her shoulders.

Alex wasted no time wondering what the word meant and looked the direction Marima was approaching from and raised a hand in the air while calling to her. "Aunt MARIMAAAAAAAA!"

Marima noticed the two before the call and hurried towards them hoping Alex would quiet down when she arrived. Placing a hand on their head seemed to shut them up which was a relief for her; attention was really something she tried to avoid but she always seemed to attract it when she had the kids with her. "Why are you two in the rain?" She asks while pulling an umbrella from her backpack for the two and their coats. "Here, I brought your coats."

Alex's coat draped over their head covering their face and Dakota caught hers and immediately took her backpack off to put it on. "Aunt Marima, do you have any food in your car?" Dakota asks her aunt. It caught her off guard as the question seemed so out of nowhere.

Marima sighs. "Is this your attempt to call me out or something?" She chuckled awkwardly. "I do, why?"

"Any meat?"

"Why do you need meat? What is this for? Did they forget to feed you?" She exhaled nervously as she got more concerned with the questions she was receiving.

Alex pulls their coat on and replies for Dakota. "We want to catch a cat,"

"But can't find a way to approach it without her running away." Dakota continues Alex's thought. "If we had food, maybe she would approach us."

Marima thought for a second. "Catching a cat in this weather would be impossible. It's probably hiding in a sewer or something. Can you guys wait 'til tomorrow?" She asks, just desperate to get back home.
