The radiant goldfinch perched onto the narrow branch on the birch tree pecking his thick plumage ready to soar into the sky. He spread his flamboyant yellow and black wings and darted off the branch. He flew high and higher, until he could see the whole neighbourhood. The goldfinch swooped down at the yellow dandelions and skimmed the top of the grass ready to peck at the beautiful array of flowers. Ready to land, he eventually dropped down to the floor and stood above the lemon-yellow daffodils. He used his short grey beak and ate the aubergine purple thistles.
