Have you ever had a really scary dream? And woke up to find out that it's all true? I had an experience like that once. I'm going to tell you about it.
It was a Saturday night. My sister and I were allowed to stay up late since it was Saturday, and we immediately started watching a horror movie. After it was over, we went to bed. I had a dream. In it, my dad was taking us for a trek to the national park.
At first, it wasn't so bad. There was light fog, which made it even better. The guide was leading us, when I noticed that we were going slightly off track. My dad and sister didn't seem to notice. I tried to tell the tourist guide, but he wasn't listening. His eyes were glossed over, like my friends' during science class.
Suddenly we approached an old house. Literally. It was standing in the middle of a forest, and it was in horrible condition. It gave me an uneasy feeling just being near it. I felt something hard hit me in the back of my neck. I looked up, and a drop of water fell on my cheek. It was followed by a light cool drizzle, which then turned into a huge tempest.
Blinking out the water from my eyes, and using my backpack as protection, I tried to think clearly. How could there be rains in the summer? It could've been summer showers, but the rain was downright icy.
I shivered and turned around to ask my dad if we brought any raincoats. But my dad wasn't there. Neither was my sister or the tour guide. The rain was almost solid now, and the fog was so thick, I couldn't see anything beyond 2 feet. I blindly walked toward the house.
Toying with the idea of going in or not, I decided to go in since I needed shelter. I knocked on the tarnished brass knocker in the shape of a shriveled beech tree on the door, and it swung open. "Okay...." I said to myself.
There was an old lady standing in front of me. "I've been expecting you..." she said. I was terrified and hungry. There was a bowl of soup on a table and its fragrance wafted towards me. My mind and body were fighting against each other.
My mind was saying, "Don't trust her!" My body was saying, "I'm so hungry...." A part of my mind was saying, "You shouldn't talk to yourself. Just shut up." My body took over, and I walked up to the soup. I was picking up the spoon and dipped it in the bowl, when the table, spoon and soup disappeared. I turned around, and saw the lady coming towards me, a creepy smile on her face. Something flashed in her hand, and I saw what she was holding. A sharp knife.
