YOU STOOD in front of a bookshelf, putting a bunch of new books onto the shelf. You didn't really work at a library, but more of a book store where people bought books.

They bought books or read them right then and there. Like a Barnes and Noble.

"Ah, now I'm done." You said, backing up. You backed up a little too much, bumping into another person.

"Sorry." You gestured with your hands. The boy turned around. He looked unfazed.

"It's alright." He said, picking up the books you dropped. He looked up, handing you the books. You made eye contact with his greenish eyes, but instantly looked away.

"Thanks!"

So you walked back to the receptionist and staff area. The tall boy watched you walk away.

You weren't obligated to stay at the shelves or say bye or anything, so you just walked away.

That boy seemed to be a regular at the book store since he continued to come at the same time, weeks later.

And every single time, the both of you had a small interaction.

This time, he came up to the counter to buy a book. As you were checking it out for him, you could feel him stare off into space.

You couldn't tell what he could be thinking.

"Here you go! Thanks for coming." You warmly smiled at him. Your manager had trained you to be warm to customers.

Unlike other times, he actually smiled back at you, walking out of the store.

"No problem." You warmly smiled at the customer in need, watching them walk to the receptionist. It was yet another week at the store.

Just 2 more hours and then you could relax comfortably at home, maybe even order some food.

Your back had hurt the entire evening.

Although you were just a high schooler, you lived alone and had to make some money of your own.

Your mom was busy with work and rarely came home. But she still helped with the bills and other necessities.

Next door was the Miya twins. They were both a lively soul even if it wasn't obvious on the outside. You hung out with them a lot and even went to school together. (Sometimes)

But, you were in a different school. They were nearby anyway.

"Excuse me?"

You turned to face the boy with the monotone voice. You smiled at the familiar customer.

"Yes? What do you need?"

He cleared his throat before speaking. "Do you know where to find more manga around here? Or maybe if this store has some good romance?"

He looked as if he was avoiding eye contact. He sounded nervous. But you shrugged it off.

Are boys embarrassed of reading romance?

Afterall, you two were strangers.

You nodded. "Yes, follow me."

You didn't know his name, so you usually referred to him as 'the boy' when talking to your bestfriends about him.

One of them also worked at the bookstore like you, but today she took the day off.

This mysterious boy had a deadpan expression most of the time, so it was unusual for him to look nervous. He was pretty tall, too.

As he followed behind you, you could feel his eyes piercing through you.

You finally guided him to the shelves of manga, turning around.

"And...here it is. Anything else you need?" you asked him. He shook his head, smiling as you walked away.

You did take interest in him and considered getting his number. But you were afraid. What if he had a girlfriend? Or what if he wasn't interested?

Little did you know, both of you were in the same position.
