Quietly, I opened the door to Adam's game room and stuck my head inside.
"Hey, honey, can you give me a hand real quick?" I asked quietly.
"Sure, I'll be right there. Just give me a minute. I just want to finish this real quick." he replied without taking his eyes off the screen for even a second to look at me.
Sighing, I went back to the kitchen and continued cutting the vegetables for the salad I was about to prepare. I was slightly annoyed that Adam couldn't pause his game for even a minute to help me out. It wasn't as if I had asked him to stop playing completely.
Half an hour later, there was still no sign of him, so I just decided to do it myself. But how? I thought about it for a moment and then got the steps from the garage. It probably wasn't a good idea, but there was no other way for me to get onto the countertop and reach the top wall cabinet at the moment.
"What the hell are you doing?" asked Adam suddenly behind me. Oh great, now that I was standing on the counter, his royal highness had decided to come out of his cave.
"I need the big salad bowl. And I can't get to it any other way." I explained to Adam as I continued to reach for the bowl.
"Y/N, you're pregnant. You can't just climb on the furniture right now!" he retorted with a huff.
"Oh, that's what it is? I thought I just got fat." I said sarcastically.
"Very funny. Now get down from there." spoke Adam.
"Fine." I grumbled. He stood behind me to support me so I wouldn't hurt myself.
Then he climbed up the steps himself to get the bowl down for me.
"Don't do that again, please." he said as he set the bowl on the countertop and turned to me.
"I asked you to help me. But you couldn't tear yourself away from your game once again. It would only have taken a minute. You could have taken a break for that long. After all, it's your friends who are coming over for dinner. But you haven't lifted a finger yet. Well, except for your controller and keyboard," I replied angrily.
"Whoa, calm down!" he said but his tone was not reassuring, on the contrary.
"Don't tell me to calm down! I have the right to be pissed off. You invite your friends over but have nothing to do yourself but play your stupid video games." I hissed.
"So you're going to forbid me to game now, Y/N?" he asked.
"No, of course not. All I want you to do is help me damn it," I replied loudly.
"Well, you could have just asked." he replied. Now that really pissed me off.
"I asked you! Apparently you've taken too many blows to the head. Your memory seems to be suffering already!" I snapped.
"Okay, you know what? I'm only letting you get away with this because your hormones are going crazy right now." he said and turned to leave the room.
"Don't you dare blame this on my hormones!" I retorted.
"Why not? What else is the reason you're so fucking overly sensitive?" he asked mockingly as he turned back to me.
"Maybe it's because you've been acting like a fucking asshole to me lately! If you don't like the way I'm behaving right now, maybe you shouldn't have knocked me up then!" I yelled at him.
Now I had enough and stormed out of the kitchen. I went into the bedroom and slammed the door shut. Afterwards I locked it before I went into the bathroom to take a relaxing bath.
