After a long day of touring New York, visiting tourist traps and new foods, night arrived and Y/N, Shane, and Ryan entered their hotel room. It was two beds, one bath, and a small table with a mini-fridge and a coffee area.
Ryan plopped onto the hotel bed, only dropping his luggage to the side, and took a deep, relaxing sigh.
"I'm so glad we can finally relax," he commented, sinking deeper into the mattress. "We've been touring New York for hours."
"At least take off your shoes first," Shane said. "You're gonna dirty the bed!"
"I've been walking all day. I can wear shoes on this bed if I want to."
"I'm gonna have to side with Ryan," Y/N agreed, kicking off their shoes. They jumped onto the available bed, back first. "My feet hurt."
"Aw, no, Y/N!" Shane complained. "Well, at least you don't have your shoes on. Move over. I don't wanna sleep in Ryan's dirty bed."
Y/N rolled over to one side, making room, and Shane sat on the other. Y/N couldn't help but blush at the thought of them sleeping together. As friends, obviously, as friends, Y/N is positive Shane meant it as friends, but a small part of them hoped that Shane would mean more.
"Y/N? You okay?"
"Yeah?"
"I'm asking if you're cool with me sleeping next to you. I can always sleep next to Ryan if you're not,"
"No, no! It's cool."
"Hey, I'm gonna go take a shower first," Ryan interrupted, his hand on the bathroom handle. The water began to run, and Shane placed his hand on Y/N's shoulder.
"You good?" he asked with caring eyes. "You seemed pretty out of it today."
"Yeah, I'm just tired," Y/N lied. "Cause of last night and stuff,"
"You tripped three times, fell on the floor twice, screamed randomly in a restaurant, and asked Ryan or me to repeat what we said I don't even know how many times cause I lost count," Shane pointed out. "Ryan's in the shower, he won't hear anything, and I won't tell him. Are you sure you're okay?"
"No," Y/N replied. "That voice... the one I heard yesterday. It just echoed while we were at the house. I thought I'd be fine, cause we left the house, but... there's just this nagging."
"Like a gut feeling or..."
"No. Like a little voice in my head telling me to go back. There's something more in that basement, Shane, and I want to find it."
"In the basement? Are you sure?"
"Positive. So... I might return to the house."
"What? Y/N, you know we don't have permission to go back."
"And? I need to go back, Shane. If this voice is causing this much trouble now, just think how much it'll cause in the future."
"Listen. I know you're a psychic and all that, but trespassing?"
"You taunt demons on the daily. And you're scared of a little crime?"
"Yeah! Cause the police are real, and I could get arrested. Demons? Not real."
"They are so!"
"I'm not coming with you."
"Fine by me. I didn't ask you to," Y/N huffed. Though their rest was short, they were ready to get rid of that voice. They quickly put their shoes back on, grabbed their jacket, a flashlight, their phone, and a camera, and made their way to the door. Shane stood in front of them, blocking their exit.
