KyleOn my way to work, I kept on having flashbacks about my parents talking about my kids.
Like that's ever going to happen.
When I got to my office, I called Lisa. She answered,
"Come to my office." I said into the office phone before disconnecting.
She came in and stood quietly, "Get me a list of everyone that is here and who isn't." I demanded.
"Ok sir."
"Lisa, why don't I have a secretary yet?" I asked causing her to turn and face me.
We haven't found the right one yet." She replied.
"Make sure you get me one before my engagement." I instructed and she nodded before exiting the office.
My phone buzzed and it was Penelope. She texted to say that she's on her way to the office.
I wonder why I have to meet her, she could have planned the wedding to her taste. I don't mind.
In a little while, there was a soft knock on the door and didn't wait for me to respond before coming in.
Penelope barged into my office with a grin plastered on her face, for her to suggest we meet means she trusts her.
"Hello!" Her voiced filled the air causing me to turn my seat around.
The petite figure who was with her was wearing a yellow sundress and dark hair.
"This is my fiancé; Kyle Matthews."She introduced and I took that as my cue to shake hands with her.
"Nice to meet you." I stretched my hand towards her but she didn't take it.
Who does she think she is leaving my hand hanging for so long?
"Nic-" She stopped as she fell into my arms and I immediately let go of her and she falls on the ground.
"Why did you let her go!" Penelope screamed. She rushed to get a bottle of water which she splashed on her face and then regained consciousness. She rubbed her eyes with her hands.
"Why did you hire a dying wedding planner?!" I scolded Penelope.
"I didn't know she was sick and dying!" She defended.
"You should have been thorough. Now me have an almost dead person in my office!"
"I'm not sick! I'm also not dying."

I followed Penny into a large company.
"Your fiancé works here?" I asked as we walked into the elevator.
"Work here? Darling my fiancé owns the company." She chuckled.
Loaded. He must be loaded.
She lead me into the reception and to an elevator that took us to the fifth floor. As the door opened, it opened to a reception desk but the desk was empty.
It seems he doesn't currently have a secretary.
She knocked lightly before twisting the handle of the door. It was a spacious office with floor length windows and he was seated at his desk backing the door and most probably looking at the outside but the only thing I noticed was his dirty blonde hair which made me remember my past.
"Hey Kyle! We're here." She strolled into the office and headed straight to his desk.
My heart skipped a beat when she called that name. It's a common name Alexis, breathe.
"Let me introduce you to our wedding planner, Macy."
He finally got up from his seat and turned to face us before walking towards us.
"Hi Macy, I'm Kyle. Kyle Matthews." He stretched out his hand as he looked me in the eye.
Those darn blue eyes again.
Wait. Matthews? Did he just say Kyle Matthews. As in my ex boyfriend Kyle Matthews?
My eyes darted from his to his outstretched hand.
Do I take his hand? What if he recognizes me? Do I just run away instead?
So many thoughts running through my mind that I couldn't process. It's been about eight years since I ever came in contact with those hands. I brought my hand to his.
"Ni-"I tried to say before everything turned black.
After sometime. my eyes fluttered open in an unfamiliar place. I was still feeling a little lightheaded so I stayed put.
Kyle and Penelope stood by the table discussing but I couldn't even stand up to join the conversation.
This is embarrassing and on my first day of meeting.
"Why did you hire a dying wedding planner?" He scolded Penelope.
This is good. That means he doesn't recognize me.
"I didn't know she was sick and dying!" She carefully said and I get up my feet.
Did they just call me sick and dying?
"I am not dying and I'm also not sick." I scowled and I placed my hand on my hips.
"Then explain why you fainted all of a sudden. I don't like incompetent people."
Incompetent? Kyle Matthews hate incompetent people?
"I didn't have a proper breakfast before coming here." I lied trying to cover up my shock. He rolls his eyes and returns to Penelope.
"I've met her and I don't like her. You can tell her to leave." He told Penelope loud enough for me to hear.
"Macy, I'm sorry, can you leave? I'll call you later." She flashed a quick smile and I nodded.
His words didn't hurt me. He had definitely changed. Kyle was never this arrogant. I guess power got into his head.
I went to a nearby restaurant process my emotions. I ordered a cup of piping hot coffee to calm down but I couldn't even drink it.
After eight years he stood there right in front of me but he didn't even realize it was me. He's getting married next month and I'm his freaking wedding planner. Why did he have to show up right now? I was so convinced I had moved on so why's the thought of him getting married hurting me so much?
Although even I have to admit that I didn't know it was him either until he introduced himself. I would have never imagined that my blue eyed blonde jock would end up as a serious business man, wearing a suit and tie. If not anything, I expected that he'd become a star athlete.
I chuckled at the thought.
Could this be a sign that maybe our story was left incomplete?
No. No. No.
Now you just sound delusional, Alexis. Stop. He forgot you, he moved on, you can do the same.
The next time I meet with him I'll make sure I'm professional. I can't miss out on this huge opportunity and besides, he doesn't even recognize me.
A nice warm bath would honestly hit right now.
