A L E X I S

"What the hell is wrong with you!?" I frowned at Sophie.

"I should be asking you that! What were you thinking bringing your past into our lives!" She thundered.

"I didn't bring him here. He found me." I hissed, terribly annoyed for treating Kyle the way she did.

"Lexi, you know how much he hurt you years back. Why are you still so naive?"

"Me? I'm naive?! I'm sorry for ruining your life with my naivety but that doesn't give you the right to treat him like that" I spat furiously.

"Treat him how? He deserved it."

"You always throw him out! You have no fucking right to do that! You're not dad and you're certainly not mom!"

"Whose arms did you cry into when he broke your heart? Mine right? So now suddenly, I shouldn't interfere? Can you hear yourself?"

"Oh my god, you are impossible." I stomped my way upstairs and slammed the door shut.

I can't imagine how Kyle feels after how my sister spoke to him. Sophie is so unbearable, everything was going great till she came in.

A gentle knock came from the other side of my door.

"Go away!"

"I'm still coming in!" She announced before inviting herself in.

"Lexi, you know I hate it when we fight, we haven't had an argument like this since mom died and now because of him you're fighting with me."

"Can you hear yourself? You're blaming Kyle for nothing! Did he tell me to fight with you? No, we're fighting because you were rude to him for no reason." I defended my anger.

"Okay. Let's both calm down," She said and took a deep breath. "I just don't want you to get hurt again, you remember the last time you trusted him?"

"He hurt me but I also did the same to him, he came all the way to Glendale to look for me and I left him in that motel with nothings but a note." I replied.

"I just want you to be happy and not get hurt."

"Anyone that sees you would think you were the one that he hurt instead of me." I teased chuckled.

"Because Alexis, you're literally my only family. If anyone hurts you, they hurt me too."

"But I'm not a kid anymore, I know how to take care of myself."

"Does he know that you're..."

"No. Well he's not sure"

"Let's keep it that way."

"You know, you should be glad he came today."

"Why?"

"I could have died. I had food poisoning and I fainted, luckily Kyle was there and he took me to the hospital."

"I didn't know that. Do you have a fever or something?"

I shook my head and Sophie pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of head before leaving to her room. Since mom died we've been inseparable.

After Sophie had left for work, I called Stacey and told her to give me Kyle's phone number but I was too scared to call.

Come on! It's not weird. You're only calling to apologize.

I took a deep breath before I finally dialed his number.

"Um hello? This is Macy I j-"

Did he just? I can't believe he hung up on me.

Maybe he's still mad, I'd be mad too if a stranger treated me like trash.

I didn't go to the office today I just decided to stay home and rest. I ate and watched TV until there was a knock at the door.

"It's you?" I gasped when a certain blonde guy came into view.

"Yes it is." Kyle answered me and pushed the door wider so he could come in.

"Is your sister home?" He asked as he scanned the living room and I shook my head in response.

" I'd like to apologize for yesterday, she was in a terrible mood when she came home yesterday."

"Are you sure? It seemed personal to me."

"Why would she hate you when she doesn't even know you."

"So, first, I apologize for calling you Alexis, it's just you share similar features so I got confused but you already confirmed you weren't so I would like it if we could stay friends because you remind me so much of her and it feels like I'm close to her when I'm close to you." He explained.

I sighed, "Friends." I agreed. "At least you know now for a fact that I'm not who you're looking for."

He smiled and I noticed his smile was still as charming as ever.

"I'm sorry. It's just that I haven't seen her in years and your green eyes, it just seems exactly the same." His eyes trailed down the couch.

"Who is she?"

"Alexis," He corrected before continuing, "She was a girl from high school, beautiful, intelligent and very passionate. She was my girlfriend and well she was the one that taught me what love was. She's my high school sweetheart." He chuckled.

"Wait. You're searching for a high school sweetheart? You didn't move on?" I asked.

"I couldn't." His lips formed a straight line. "Maybe you can blame it on the fact that I couldn't get closure." His expression dulled.

"What do you mean?"

"All she left me was a letter. She told me she had forgiven me for cheating but she left me a letter. Maybe, just maybe if she had told me face to face to move on, I might have considered it but no, I still have so many questions."

"But you're getting married." I reminded him as I felt my heart sink.

"I'm only getting married to Penelope because of my business. I don't love her."

Does he really miss me?

"I'm so sorry." I gave him a blank look.

"Whatever. It doesn't matter because she doesn't care, she's probably somewhere with another dude while I'm here moping about her."

"She isn't!" I blurted causing him to give me a confused look.

"Meaning?"

"I mean she probably isn't with any other dude, you're just overthinking the whole situation." I covered up and he relaxed.

"If you say so."

"So where's Penelope?"

"She's in Paris with her mom, doing some shopping I guess." He gave a half smile.

"Oh, do you want to eat something? Or drink?"

"How about we order a pizza?"

"Great."
