Mother?! Wake up!!
"MOTHER... Respond"
I cried out.
I shook my mothers arm trying to wake her from this unavailing curse, but yet with no response. With no other choice, I grabbed the glass of water from her night stand by splashing her awake.
"GASP"
My mother's eyes widened and she gapped for air as if I tried to drown her in the process.
This curse had drained my mother to an extent to where she seemed paralyzed.
Nothing more than a powerless woman, reduced to tattered skin and frail bones.Mother's entire face seemed to have changed drastically over night. Her once gleemful emerald green eyes, now dull and sunk into the back of her head, long lush tree bark brown hair now lifeless and grey and her teeth once white and strong, now toothless.
"What's happened to you mother?" I asked with tears.
"My dear child, I believe it's time"
She Murmured.I knew where she was going with her words. I leaned in with giant tears in my eyes and rested my hand over my mother's forehead.
Hoping to heal, my hand started warming up, knowing it was my magic and not my mothers illness warming up my hand.
"Shaan?" Whispered mother.
"I'm not giving up on you mother, you're all I have left, I'm not allowing you to go,"My tears couldn't be held back anymore; they rolled down my face, tear after tear.
This was a fight, my magic couldn't win nor my mother's and I knew that, but no way in the deepest pit in hell was I not going to try my best and help my mother get better!
I carried on reciting my spell under my breath.
"Healed be the flesh. Dispose of illness. Be gone, be gone."
"You're still growing Shaan, it will come to you in time" my mother said trying to keep back a dry cough.
Her time was close and we both could feel it. My bones started tingling and I felt how the power inside of me was growing.
With every second I felt the power increaseing I despised it. Knowing my mother was getting closer to death.
With witches for every witch in the family that dies has a choice, pass on the power or it will choose a host by itself once the body is no longer useful. If you pass before choosing the magic chooses someone worthy to wield the passed-on witch's power. Same with wizards, except with the wand, the wands chooses and not the magic orb.
With nothing else that I could do, I bowed my head and prayed to the warlocks, for some kind of miracle for my mother.
I dragged a nearby chair, and watched my mother fall into her last and almost final rest.
Hours went by that I had been praying for my mother.
I went looking for a spell on energy that my mother had in her 1000's of collections of books. Her library has countless spells and potions to choose from. All shapes and sizes of books and bottles."SHAAN!" Cried my mother out to me.
I instantly knew her time was at an end. Before I could get to my mothers side I was swooped up into the air, like a balloon being filled with air and felt a fiery sensation in me. A bolt of blinding light shot out of my mother and into me; I felt every decision she ever made in her life, every happy memory she's had and disappointment.
This was over-whelming... Knowing what she had gone through and seeing what see saw; it was as if she'd put her entire life on tape and put it in my brain on fast forward.
Floating blindly in the air and feeling as if my insides where being burned.
"Noooooo!!!" I cried out.
In mid-air, so close to the roof I could almost touch it, I cringed with pain and immediately curled into a ball, hoping the pain would subside or atleast decrease. My body shot itself into a ball of light, allowing my arms, hands and legs to be stretched out as if I was going to pulled apart.
While realizing what is busy happening to me and my mother, I wanted nothing more for the burning to stop and for the magic out of me and back into my mother and so I tried to reject it.
It was building inside of me, like an erupting volcano, just waiting for the that perfect moment to explode.Without warning the light disappeared and It dropped me to the floor, with such a force it shook the empty glass of water off my late-mothers bed side table.
My entire body now weak and injured from both the transfer and the fall, I kept my head down and stayed on my knees and slowly breathed out the spell.
"Magic be returned to the owner of this magic be regifted and acknowledge your power."
Crawling to the side of my mothers death bed on my knees, I grabbed my mothers hand; still being able to feel her heat made me hopeful.
My heart now broken into little tiny pieces I had no other choice to throw myself onto her chest and cry.
Her body started to get cold and then only did I accept that my mother, my best friend and most important, my teacher was gone.(Weeping)
