I groaned as I stared at the door, dreading what lay beyond. Know I had to tell him was the worst thing in the world.
My brother, Denver, had a beautiful bird that always used to sit on his shoulder. And I had just witnessed it's death.
As the only witness, I was the one to tell him, or so my other brother, Rennie, told me.
I flicked my dark hair out of my eyes and slowly turned the door handle.
The door creaked loudly as I opened it. Denver looked up at me.
"Hey kiddo! Where's Marty? I haven't seen him all day?"
I sighed. Of course. The first thing he says is about the bird.
I looked at the floor, avoiding Denver's eyes.
"He's....... He's d-" I sighed. "Dead."
