In all my seventeen years of living, I hadn't lost a single thing, excluding my baby teeth. Not once. Not a single time. So you can only imagine my confusion when my wallet had mysteriously disappeared from my backpack.
"Aha! Knew you were around here somewhere!" I pulled the square-shaped pouch out of my bag.
Opening the wallet, I counted through the bills to pay for my usual: a caramel macchiato with extra cream. I had just left the Starbucks counter when I noticed the drivers license tucked into my wallet.
Well, maybe not my wallet.
Huh? Since when was I a blonde man named Huang Renjun?
I racked my mind, trying to think of any possible place where I could have switched my bookbag with someone else.
Maybe I shouldn't have fallen asleep on the bus.
Whatever. I just hope Mr. Huang here packed a good lunch.
I crossed the road from the Starbucks and made my way to the entrance of the school. Students were strolling across campus, waiting for the day to start. Once I had reached my locker, I put the stranger's bag away and got out my books for my first class.
"Hey, sexy." My locker door slammed shut just as I got my hand out of the way.
"Na Jaemin, how many times do I have to tell you not to do that? I swear to god, you're paying medical bills if my hand gets chopped off," I scolded.
Ah, Jaemin. As annoying as he was, you had to love the guy.
"What's wrong? Can't a guy ask his best friend how her morning's going?" Jaemin pouted, helping me carry my books.
"You're lucky you're so damn loveable, Jaem. Otherwise, you'd be stuffed inside one of these lockers by now," I roll my eyes and bump shoulders with my friend as we make our way to class.
"What can I say, it's my charm," he winks.
Someone slams their shoulder against Jaemin, shutting my friend up.
"So sorry!' the mysterious boy shouts over his shoulder.
Huh. What a familiar face.
"What the hell? These people have no manners. That better not have been a freshman." Jaemin dusts off his shirt.
"C'mon Jaem, give him a break. Looked like he was in a hurry."
"Whatever you say, Y/N."
[five minutes later]
We enter our classroom just as the bell rings, scrambling to take our seats. No one needed Mr. Suh on their backs this early in the morning.
"Good morning class, how is everyone doing?"
An echo of "good"s erupt from the classroom.
"All right, all right, settle down. Now, I'm sure you'll all be ecstatic to hear that we have a new student today! Come in, Mr. Huang," Mr. Suh prompts.
Huang? Well, I guess that's a popular surname recently.
The boy who bumped into Jaemin earlier entered the classroom, catching everyone's eye. His hair was a platinum blonde all the way down to the tips, where it was dyed a pretty purple. A blue jacket perfectly adorned his lean frame, his stressed black jeans hugging his long legs just as tightly.
All in all, he was dreamy.
Really dreamy.
The boy made his way over to Mr. Suh's desk to introduce himself. It seemed like everyone in the room was following his every move, waiting for something to happen.
"Hello everyone, I'm Huang Renjun. Please take care of me."
Pin drop silence.
Jaemin whistled, breaking the tension in the air. "Hey pretty boy, nice to have you here."
Renjun shot him a small smile. You could practically see the heart of every girl in the room melt.
"Alright Mr. Huang, since Mr. Na has decided to get so friendly, why don't you go sit by him?"
Next to Jaemin? But that's the seat directly behind me...
Not only do I have the new boy's backpack stuffed in my locker, but now he sits behind me in class. I have to figure out a way to return that bag.
As Renjun makes his way past my seat, I spot an RJ plushie sitting on top of his backpack.
Well, my identical backpack.
I did not spend $25 of my hard-earned money to buy that keychain for some blondie to be using it.
I guess I'll just class him after class later.
Renjun slumps down on the seat behind me, swinging my bag across the back of his chair. Suddenly, an idea pops into my head. I quickly rip out a piece of paper from my book and scribble down a note:
-------------------------------------------------
I meet me outside locker I
I 1019, before lunch I
-------------------------------------------------
I fold the piece of paper in half and slip it to the boy behind me, making him look up from his work. He raises an eyebrow, playing with the note. Finally, he unfolds it and reads through the messy handwriting, looking over it once, twice, then thrice.
The blonde looks up at me and breaks out into a grin, slipping the note into his back pocket.
Huh? What's so funny?
Oh.
Oh no.
The new boy thinks I'm interested in him.
