*Chynelle’s POV*

“Chynelle! Come here sweetie!” Even in my sleep I could hear my mother’s voice. Yeah, she’s that loud. I sleepily rolled off my bed and ended up face-planting the carpeted floor, great! Oh well, at least I’m awake now. I made my way down the stairs to hear what mom has to stay. Hope it’s important.

I sat at an empty seat around the island in the middle of the kitchen where my parents were having breakfast and discussing something of some sort.

“Morning.” I said trying to get some attention.

“Oh, Hello darling! Did you sleep well?” my dad asked.

“Yea, like a baby… But I was rudely awaken from it a couple of minutes ago because SOMEONE was shouting.” I pointed out.

“Nelle (that’s the nickname mom gave me), don’t be so negative.” She scolded, “We have great news for you.”

“OMG! You guys! How sweet! You’re finally buying me the Range Rover. I love you guys, tha-” I was about to hug my parents when I was cut off mid-sentence.

“No, that’s not it honey.” Dad teased, “You thought we were buying you Another expensive car. Lol!”

“Holy mackerel!  Dad, did you just say LOL?! You’re not supposed to say that, you’re OLD.”

“Why, yes I did. I can get down like you young kids so. I’m all bout that groovy life!” Dad answered, miserably trying to sound cool.

“Anyways, Nelle. Do you remember the Stones’, our business partners?” mom asked trying to get to the important matter.

“Yea, I remember ‘em…” I replied, bored with the conversation.

“Great. Well they’ll be joining your father and me for a business meeting in Rio.” Mom said casually.

“Umm…that’s great news I guess.” I replied in a bored tone with a shrug. I seriously don’t get how this is ‘good news’, psssssht.

“So you know what that means?” mom asked.

“Yeah, sure I do. It means that I have the house to myself so no wild parties, no drug dealing, blah blah.” I answered.

“No, it actually means that their son, Alec will be living with you for the time being.” Dad answered a little too sternly.

“Dad. He’s just a ki- wait, Alec?!” Are they out of their freakin’ minds!

“Now, honey I know you two aren’t exactly friends, but at least try to get along. I’m sure you guys probably have a lot in common.” Mom said sweetly. I’m guessing that they asked her and she just couldn’t say no. See, mom has this thing where she’s always helping people. She just can’t say no. Like, really!? I mean what could me and Alec have in common? He’s an asshole, I’m….Me. See, two different types of human.

Mom continued talking during the time I was thinking so when I tuned back into reality, all I heard was “……tomorrow.”

“Uh, mom can you repeat that?’

“Nelle, aren’t you listening to me? I said he’ll be here tomorrow after school.”

I was about to turn to dad, but he wasn’t there. I was depending on him to back me up. Surely he can’t be ok with an 18 year old delinquent living with his 17 year old daughter.

“Wait, when are you guys leaving?”

“We didn’t tell you? We’re leaving in an hour.” Dad replied casually while running down the stairs with their luggage. Oh, wow. They forgot to tell their kid that they’re leaving.

“So… When were you planning on telling me this tiny bit of important information?” I asked, giving mom ‘the stare’.

“Oh, honey. You would have figured it out anyway.” That was dad’s reply. Really dad?!

You know what, amma go take a nap. I can’t even right now. I am soooo tired! I jogged up the stairs, ran into my room and dived on my bed? What the..?

“Sunny!? Why are you in my room? How did you get in my house!?” I asked my best friend. How the truck did she get in my room?

She stared at me like I asked the stupidest question ever, “I was knocking on your front door, I didn’t get an answer so I just went round back and climbed through your window… Duuuuh!”

“I am not even gonna comment on that. So what’s up? What was so important that you had to climb through my window INSTEAD of calling me and asking me to open the door?” As I said that I started to wonder why she didn’t call me and ask me to just open the door. What a weird friend I have.

She looked puzzled for a while then shrugged, “It’s cooler.”

“So you staying the night? My parents are leaving in a couple minutes and I’m gonna be bored Sun.” I whined.

“Sure. I don’t have anything interesting to do at home anyways. Hey, pass me your laptop.”

I went over to my desk and picked up my laptop, gave it to Sunny and dived it into my bed once again. Oh bed, I missed you. You understand me. You accept me for the lazy bitch I am. We sleep together every night and you don’t cheat.

“Are you seriously talking to your bed?”

OMG! I said that out loud!?

“Yeah, you kinda did.”

Damn, I said

that out loud too!? I need to stop doing that.

“Yeah, you really do.”

“You know what, I give up! I’m going to bed”

I can’t even process whatever Sunny is saying right now, I’m so tired my head is spinning. Timber! It’s sleep time!
