Chapter 34. Origin Part 3

Zachariel's P.O.V

I visited the sweet shop across the street after Alexei left. I bought some delicious sweets and snacks for the kids, then walked back to my car. Knowing the kids, I wouldn't get a chance to leave the house later. I decided to fulfill my promise to Paul and visit Alyssa before going home. The head nurse of the maternity ward smiled when I asked her if I could see Alyssa. She greeted me, then said, "The mother and baby are awake, sir. You can go in now." I knocked on the door, then waited for Alyssa to answer. I got startled when Paul suddenly opened the door and yelled, "Welcome, Zach!" I shook my head when the baby started crying.

I playfully slapped Paul, then uttered, "Idiot," while walking into the room. Alyssa gazed in astonishment at me. We hadn't seen each other in years, so it was understandable. I chuckled when Alyssa tried to fix her hair. I smiled at Alyssa, then said, "Don't worry, Alyssa. You look great. How are you and baby Anthony doing today?" Alyssa stroked her son's head, then answered me with, "We're doing fine thanks to you, Zach. You have helped us a lot. I don't know how we will be able to repay you." I smiled at Alyssa, then responded to her with, "Paul means a lot to me, Alyssa. I would do anything to make him and his family happy." Alyssa smirked at me, then stated, "You have become even more handsome since the last time I saw you, Zach. It's a shame that you are still single." I shook my head, then declared, "I'm dating someone at the moment, Alyssa." Alyssa squealed, then threw a pillow at Paul to attract his attention. Paul, who had been munching on a strawberry, looked in shock at his wife. I chuckled when Alyssa used sign language to tell Paul that I was in a relationship with someone.

Paul pulled me into his arms, then uttered, "Congratulations, Zach. I'm so glad that you have moved on." I patted Paul's back, then responded to him with, "Thank you, Paul. Now let me play with baby Anthony for a while." Paul smiled, then uttered, "Go ahead, Zach. I'm sure that he will instantly fall in love with you." Anthony stared with his beautiful eyes at me when I took him in my arms. He grabbed my thumb possessively, then smiled at me. I placed a kiss on Anthony's head, then stated, "I wish you a happy and healthy life, Anthony." Anthony fell asleep while listening to me talk. I handed him over to his mother, then said, "I'll visit you soon, Alyssa. Take good care of yourself and the baby."

Alyssa nodded, then responded to me with, "See you soon, Zach." Paul hugged me by the door, then said, "Thank you for being a true friend, Zach." I stroked Paul's head, then replied to him with, "You are welcome, Paul." I grabbed my phone to check my messages while walking to the elevator. I smiled when I saw that Alexei had sent me a funny love poem. I sent a romantic ballad back to Alexei, then turned off my phone. I was just about to step into the elevator when I spotted Dante Malachi. He was roaming the corridor of the maternity ward with his I.V stand. I ran to him when I saw him stumble. The man was clearly in a hurry. Dante Malachi smiled at me when I caught him on time. I lead Dante to a chair, then helped him sit. I sighed, then uttered while looking around, "The nurses and doctor's here sure don't distinguish between the rich and the poor. I thought that they would guard their boss's grandfather like angels. I wonder what your grandson thinks about your little adventures, Mr. Malachi."

Dante was just about to reply to me when a man ran towards us. The man looked in concern at Dante, then said while panting, "I told you that I would lead you back to your room, uncle. I almost got a heart attack when I saw that you were gone. Leonardo will kill me if he finds out that I let you wander around all alone." Dante smiled at the man, then responded to him with, "You were busy with your child, Paolo. I didn't want to burden you any longer, so I left. You can go back to your wife and child now. Zachariel will take me back to my room." Paolo looked at me suspiciously, then asked Dante, "Do you even know this man, uncle? What if he abandons you on the next floor?" Dante grabbed my hand, then answered Paolo while grinning with, "Zachariel would die before deceiving someone, Paolo. Now, go back to your wife."
