I woke up with a jolt. Looking around I saw I was in some kind of government facility. My legs were strapped to the legs of a chair and my arms were completely tied down to a large board which was built into the chair. The walls were made of complete stone and there was a camera looking at the door.

To my right, in a chair similar to mine, was my mother. She had several bruises on her face and appeared to be knocked out. Her sleeves appeared to be ripped and her arms had cuts on them. Her hair was missing in some places, as though somebody had ripped it out. And her clothes were wet with some kind of sticky substance.

Just as I was about to open my mouth, the door opened. In walked in my dad, 2 soldiers and a woman with a cap that had the initials A.G. and a badge that read "General". This woman seemed to be in her early thirties. She had blonde hair, tied in a single bun and carried what I made out to be, a taser. She also had a small bottle with the words "I2". One of the soldiers had a knife and a cloth.

She walked over to me, bent down, and looked directly into my eyes. Her eyes appeared to have a spark. But not one of curiosity or happiness. But one that would most definitely have come from Medussa herself.

???: Well now. What do we have here...?

Her voice was soft and slow like she had no humanity whatsoever. She was on the borderline of speaking normally and whispering.

???: Little girl tried saving mummy? Little girl wanted to help her mother out?

I stared at her in shock. She knew who I was?

???: Oh we know about that. We know. You may have noticed your mother in this room. Sitting in that chair....

She pointed a finger at my mother.

???: Let's just say I do well when it comes to torture. And your mother hasn't been cooperating with us. So we, or rather I...

She put a one of her long, bony fingers on my cheek. Her tone was starting to darken.

???: Have decided that you'll be the one that makes her speak. After all...mothers care a lit for their children now, don't they?

She walked over to my mother and shook her. Eventually, my momstirred, then got up. Her eyes were sore and dry. She looked over and, we both looked each other directly in the eyes.

Ellie: Hannah...is that...you? No. No it can't be. They can't have gotten you can they?

???: Rise and shine Ellie. I'll cut to the chase: you've got some info. Info we need.

Ellie: What are you gonna do Alice? Pour acid into my nose? Slice deeper into my arm with a 5 inch knife?

She laughed slightly at her own sarcasm, only to be knocked back into her chair by Alice.

Alice: You will not make a mockery of me today!

Her voice became dangerously high and sharp. She looked like she would turn into a sclolding hot dagger at any given moment.

Alice: Anyways, you may have noticed we have a special someone here.

Ellie: Oh I noticed. Anyways let's just get this over with.

She closed her eyes, as though expecting some kind of torture method to be inflicted upon her. Then she opened her eyes, confused.

Alice: I don't think you understand. We can't get our info by torturing you. But we can get it by torturing someone else. Someone close to you. Perhaps someone you care about...

The last few words were said in the slowest way possible, as though to emphasies there context. My mother's eyes widened. She looked at me, then back at Alice. Then, the realization hit me: my mother wouldn't be the one they would inflict pain upon. That was for someone else.

And I knew who it was.
