This part was more of to build everything up. I wish they'd spoken more too, but I felt like that would throw off their rhythm and how they would actually react in this situation.

The car ride went by in silence. At first it felt stifling, but then it eased into comfort. Without being obvious. Jesse watched Rob from the corner of his eye, and the passenger seat window.

Rob really did have a nice straight nose. It jutted out at the tip, but fit his face well. His lips were pressed tightly together. And his ear was really cute. Jesus...I really need to stop saying things like that. But honestly the ear was small, it didn't stick out, it's curves were smooth...why am I fetishizing an ear. Meet Jesse Klaver Dutch Politician and ear fetishizer. He smacked hit forehead, with his hand.

"Are... you... alright?"

"Yeah...I just thought of something stupid." Jesse laughed it off.

Silence continued. And Jesse couldn't help but be aware of how close yet far Rob was from him. They could've been even closer...No that wasn't possible. And the likelihood of it being possible was slim to none. People were always letting each other down. There was never a grand perfect ending. The world was full of people who were willing to serve themselves, and work solely for their own interests. That's because that's all they know. But Jesse thought back to when he was just a novice. How good it felt to work with someone, to hang out with them. To laugh over all their struggles. It was much more beautiful than making money, or anything else. And then it all fell apart. And maybe they had felt money was more beautiful, but they were so wrong. The world when working with others was in technicolour. The world alone, just leaves you taking longer showers to fill that void of warmth.

Jesse glanced at Rob, and whispered "But maybe you are different Mr. Jetten."

"Did you say something?"

"What? Oh, no. I was just thinking to myself."

"Do you get lost in thought a lot?" Rob glanced at him for the first time.

"Yeah, I find myself to be great company."

"That's understandable, but I prefer being with people." Rob sent a smile Jesse's way.

"I figured."

"Do you mean I make it obvious?"

"Well kinda. I mean you are good with people. I don't mean this in an offensive way."

"Too late, you've wounded my heart. I don't think I'll survive after such a critical hit."

Jesse snorted. And just as quickly slapped his hand against his mouth.

Rob released a laugh so boisterous it was amazing the earth didn't shake beneath them. Afterall Jesse was shaking. Being this close to Rob had that effect on him.

The comfortable silence blanketed them. It was nice, like being able to fit together, without disregarding the other. And if Jesse wanted he could fill the silence, and knowing he could make that choice made him happy. Jesus, he really needed to stop acting like he was in a relationship with Rob.

Jesse glanced at him from the side again. But– if they were together, it would be even nicer, because they could hold hands. And that single port of connection would be enough to feel safe. There was so much he wanted. But he could keep imagining for now.

They arrived at the complex, parked, and headed up the elevator. Jesse stood in one corner, while Rob stood in the opposite. They both stared at the red numbers going up. Once the elevator dinged, they walked towards Jesse's apartment number 1801.
