The bell rang and hundreds of kids rushed from their class rooms. I walked quickly to find Halle. I found her sitting at a table with a few other girls. I started to walk away but stopped when I heard my name. I turned around and saw Alli Holder, a girl who was much like Halle, waving me over to their table. I couldn't believe my eyes. Alli Holder was asking me to sit with her. I rushed over to the table. "You weren't going to sit with us?" A girl named Catherine asked, pretending to be offended. "I-I um didn't know I could." I stammered. A confused look crossed her face. "Of course you can!" I quickly took my seat. They liked me. I was clueless to why, but they liked me. I knew I had to keep up the act.
The smell of mystery meat invaded my nostrils. I was immediately glad that I had brought my lunch. Throughout lunch we talked about our summer's. Vacations, boys, volleyball, boys. Just like we were all best friends. I tried to be really nice. I offered food to people, complimented them, and listened to what they had to say. I found out that I had every class with Halle, and two other girls. We talked about NJHS and Stu.Co.. We talked about the band and volleyball camps we had been to over the summer. Lunch flew by and I hurried to social studies. I smiled when I realized that Halle would be in my next two classes. Being close to her meant someone who cares about you and would do anything for you.
