Chapter 5

After a good night's sleep in the best bed in the world I had gotten changed into a casual grey off-the-sleeve crop top with a pair of high waisted black shorts and I was just applying the finishing touches to my make-up when I heard a loud knock on the door.

"Coming!" I yelled.

I walked over to the door and opened it to find Matt standing there; dressed in a pair of simple dark jeans and a t-shirt. "Morning, Jay." He smiled. "You ready for breakfast?"

"Ready when you are." I smiled back at him.

We both walked down the hall together and arrived at the Main Hall. The only person other person absent besides Matt and I was Blake.

"Morning bro." Matt claps Blake on the back.

"Hey." He mumbles.

Matt takes a seat next to Blake as he starts piling his plate with food. I smile politely at Blake before slipping into a seat across from Matt. It was seriously the most awkward meal I had. None of us were talking until Charlotte and Helen came in. As soon as they sat down Blake excused himself and hurriedly walked out of the room.

"What's up with him?" I whispered.

"You know he's gone," Matt states, "and about Blake, he started acting like this yesterday."

"Matt wouldn't it be lovely if you could teach Jade how to navigate around the HQ today?" Charlotte suggests.

"I'd be glad to. But we better start now if we went to be done before lunch."

Just then Ms Dunce came in to clear the table. "Oh, why don't I make you two a picnic to take to take to the Outside."

"That would be great, Ms Dunce." I nod.

"Come collect it at 11 o'clock."

After an hour or two of walking around the HQ and trying to memorise the main paths and hallways of the HQ we went to the kitchen to collect our picnic basket.

"So how do we get to the Outside?" I asked.

"Follow me."

We walked to the library and Matt led me to a small room which I hadn't noticed before.

The room looked like a huge circular elevator with buttons all over the wall.

Matt typed in in a super long numbered code and then suddenly the walls flashed all sort of different colours.

"Is this going to take us to the Outside."

"Yup, exactly like a lift." Matt confirmed.

"Cool." I breathed.

As soon as we made it to the top the door slid open and we arrived Outside. The weather was perfect, the sky was a nice clear blue without a cloud in sight.

"Perfect day for a picnic." I stated.

"Look, Blue Jays!" Matt pointed.

We were in a large grassy field full of beautiful Blue Jays.

"If I went up in the lift would I always arrive in this location?" I start setting out the picnic rug.

"Just depends what code you type in."

"Will I ever get to learn the codes?"

"It's all part of your training."

A few moments later we were sitting and enjoying the cucumber sandwiches Ms Dunce had so kindly made for us.
