As we sat on a blanket outside where some ancient looking cards were spread out over the fabric area. She settled behind the cards and asked me to do the same on the opposite side, once I obliged she grabbed my hand and studied it intensely with a look of expectation. Her face twisted into an expression of pain and her head snapped back, with her eyes towards the sky she grumbled, " I see the stars in your future, one star to be exact, one that will change your life for better or worse, which ever you chose. I see a man, who wears his tears proudly, and yet has never cried. You will meet him soon, this strange man. Be prepared, young one, for he is the very madness your guardians are meant to hide you from." With that her head fell and she dropped my hand. "Best be off," she said with sadness in her voice, with her head still hung, " it's getting late". I turned to leave and saw the figure in the shadows again. But, for the second time that night, I let it register in my mind as unimportant.

I wake up the next morning to my phone blowing up from texts from my best friend, Robert.

Robert-"Where the hell did you go last night?!? "
Robert-"one moment you're next to me drinking, and the next you're gone!"
Robert-"I had no clue you were going to leave abruptly like that"
Robert-"do you have any idea how worried I was??"

I smile a bit, it's so funny how he can get so worked up. I think for a sec. then text him an answer.

"Sorry to worry you, I needed some air and then decided to walk home."

I watch as my phone sends my message and I immediately get a reply.

Robert-"next time could you at least tell me before leaving all of the sudden?"

"Will do Robby ;)" I respond.

Robert has been my friend for years, I guess you could say he is one of the only reasons I'm still in damned town. With all the druggies and gangs, everyday life is a constant struggle.

A text from Robert pulls me from my daze.

Robert-"I'm off after lunch today, and I was wondering if you would like to go to market days in town. It's just far enough that the normal punks will be nowhere in sight."

"Sounds like a plan" I try not to leak my excitement into my text but, I've never been to market days and I've heard they have super cute clothing for cheap.

Robert-"I'll pick you up at 1:00."

I respond with a simple, "k" to make sure I don't sound spastic but to be honest, I'm filled with joy.
