You just had a major fight with your parents, making you cry as if your stomach was screaming to jump out. You ran away from home, startling your parents, they never would've thought you'd act this way. Nevertheless, they regretted everything they said to you.

You ran, desperately wanting to stop but your legs wouldn't and you felt trapped in your own actions. Your breath was hitching, tears falling aggressively away from your eyes. You looked at your surroundings, you were in a wheat field and it was golden hour. The sun highlighted your hair, delicately kissing your face with warmth. Your energy had run out after another minute of running, making you gasp desperately for air. Falling on the coarse wheat, you tried to calm down your breathing but nothing worked because you kept thinking back at what your parents had said earlier. They had told you that you were crazy for wanting to have anime characters to be real. That was always a hard topic because little did they know that your comfort character was the only source of happiness for you. Your parents were disappointed with your fantasies of wanting to travel to another reality, of needing comfort and help from someone nonexistent. Your salty tears had fallen to your chin, nonstop, dripping and adding spots to your soft pajamas. You hugged your knees close to your chest hoping to feel safe in your own bubble, your own body, but you felt lost. You felt like you didn't belong here anymore, at least in this world.

Behind you, you heard footsteps. They weren't fast, instead, they were slow-paced and relaxed. You thought it was your brother, wondering how he could've found you because even you didn't know where you were. Either way, you called out to your brother, still hugging your knees but not looking back.

"I know it's you, Ryan. You didn't have to find me." Your "brother" responded. "I'm not your brother," you heard a familiar voice but they weren't from your family.

In a split second, you recognized who it was. No, it wasn't your brother or one of your parents. Instead, it was your comfort character. You quickly spun your body towards the person. It really was them. You were in disbelief. Your face had shock written all over it but you went back to crying, more intensely than before. You must've been dreaming, you thought. Needlessly, you stood up, stumbling towards the figure standing before you. They had their arms wide open as if they knew everything that was going on. You hugged them, both of you slowly kneeling to the ground.

"It's okay now." They said as they rubbed the back of your head. Your breath had become more hitched, hyperventilating and gasping for air. "Everything will be alright, you just have to believe." They rested their chin on your head, your body was all curled up and you were sobbing into their chest. You felt safe again, not wanting to leave. Both of you calmly watched the sun slowly set under the horizon. The warmth coming from the light fading away but you still felt warm from the body holding you. This was a dream come true, to be able to be in the arms of the one you admired, loved, and cherished.

For maybe 20 minutes, you didn't make a move. You had calmed down after 15 minutes of constant crying. Now you were relaxed, and they were still patting your head. You felt so secure, the feeling of their hand stroking your hair, with their other arm holding you close. After another few minutes, your comfort character stopped rubbing your head. Confused, you looked up but you were met with sorrowful eyes looking down at you. They were crying too. Realization struck you, you knew what was happening. They had to leave soon. You knew they weren't real and that they had to go back to their world, back to their lives. In a tight embrace, you shed numerous tears, not wanting them to leave ever. You wanted them to stay.

"I'm sorry Ki Sei, you know I have to go." They said, their voice breaking slightly. "I don't want to leave either but I have to get back to my world or something bad might happen. It was..." They stopped talking for a moment, a small hesitation. You felt the hug becoming tighter, they were holding on as if that would keep them there. "...lovely meeting you and being there for you. I hope we meet again." A close whisper resonated in your ear.

Your grasp was getting looser and looser, you felt hopeless, unable to grab them. You looked up at their sad expression, their tears falling on your cheeks ever so delicately. You noticed their figure fading away as if everything was just an illusion, their eyes were still bright. It was as if their eyes spoke words telling you that they will always be with you and that you're not alone. You smiled, shutting your eyes closed and giving one last embrace before they would be gone. Gone forever.

"I love you, Ki Sei..." The voice echoed around you and you fell to the ground because nothing was there to support your limp, sad figure.

"I love you too." You were curled up in a ball, the field of wheat hiding your existence for a brief moment...

"Ki Sei! Where are you?!" You heard your brother's voice call out to you. He actually found you. You wiped your tears, your eyes felt puffy and tired. Eventually, you sat up and your brother could see the top of your head. He ran towards you. "Why'd you run away like that?! Imagine if I couldn't find-" He stopped talking, seeing your tired form, and your puffy pink eyes. He knelt beside you, "I'm sorry, I'm just glad you're safe. Come on, I'll carry you back home." He gestured to his back. A piggyback ride... You climbed onto his back and you held on to his neck with your arms for support as he began to walk back home. You rested your head on his shoulder and briefly took a nap, feeling each footstep he took.

A faded whisper rang in your ear. "Remember, I'm always here. I love you so much, Ki Sei" You smiled in your sleep, knowing it was true.

If you made it to the end, thank you! I appreciate it a lot. There is another part but it's not as long as this. If you would like, you are welcome to check the next chapter. Oh, also. Constructive criticism is highly appreciated <3
