So I lied. It is less of a "prequel", and more of an expansion of the main story. Sorry about that.
Dawson had just arrived in Greenhaven.
Just. He had barely managed to finish everything he had to do so he could go to his brother's wedding.
His fourth one, Dawson thought. He didn't really see the need to marry someone four times, but his brother's wedding was his brother's wedding, so he always attended.
He looked around for Devin and spotted him getting ready, gave him a quick hug, and sat down in a chair to wait for the wedding to start.
Nothing was really different from the last wedding; they still even had the same decorations from the last one, so he assumed the wedding to go exactly like it did the last three.
Right?

The party had just begun, and Shadow was tapping a cup with a spoon to announce something. No one noticed except Dawson, probably because he wasn't currently talking to someone.
She shouted at the top of her lungs "HEY EVERYONE" and that got everyone's attention.
"It's almost time for the dance! So all you folks who are single, find a dance partner." She then took Devin's hand.
Dawson fidgeted. He didn't bring anybody to the party, and didn't really know anyone he could dance with.
His eyes quickly scanned the room for a dance partner, and then his eyes locked on someone.
Tasha.
At the Battle of Erdas, Tasha had been there alongside Rollan and Abeke to stop the Wyrm.
He admired her bravery and her courage. How she was so willing to lay down her life so young. Dawson himself said it was better to live a coward than die a hero.
After taking over Trunswick, he had different view.
But, would Tasha dance with him? He wasn't even sure if Tasha remembered him. Or liked him. But there weren't any others he could dance with.
There was no sense in putting it off. Either she would say yes, or he would dance alone. He took a deep breath and padded over to her.
She too, was scanning the room looking for a dance partner. As Dawson walked over to her, Tasha noticed him approaching. His heart racing a mile a minute, he smiled and held out his hand.
"Care to dance?" asked Dawson. He told himself not to hope.
But to his suprise, she answered, "Yes." Blushing, she took his hand, and got into position.
When the music started, they both were awkward as they didn't know how each other danced, nor could they even dance in the first place.
As Dawson tried to twirl Tasha, Tasha stumbled and stepped on his foot. Dawson winced.
"Sorry! Sorry!" exclaimed Tasha. He shook his foot, but said "No, no, it's okay."
They continued dancing. Tasha once again stumbled and stepped on his foot. Dawson winced again.
A bit of practice and dancing later (and injured feet), they figured it out. Their bodies moved in sync and they getting into the mood.
After much spinning and much less foot-stomping, while twirling around, Tasha said, "Dancing with you is pretty fun!"
Pulling her close to him, Dawson said, "I'd say the same, Clumsy Girl." They grinned at each other.
And they danced the night away.
I hope that wasn't too short
