The Visit to Walnut Grove

Laura finds Almonzo hurt by the tree and Adam has a cold

Laura Ingalls Wilder's P.O.V.
I was so excited because I had just gotten a telegram from Adam saying him and Mary are coming to Walnut Grove for a visit and they have a surprise for me and my family, and Ma and Pa were coming to Walnut Grove too with my younger sisters I went home to tell Manly because he said he'd come home from work early today since Ma and Pa and my sisters were coming over but when I got home I didn't see him "Jenny where's Manly?" I asked "I don't know Mr. Edwards, Mr. Montague, and Mr. Carter went out to look for him a half hour ago and told me to stay here in case he comes back, Mrs. Cater and Jebb and Jason are also here to help me take care of Rose" Jenny said "well I'm going out to help Mr. Edwards, Mr. Montague, and Mr. Carter, I'll be back once I find Manly" I said "wait Aunt Laura Mr. Edwards said that if you come home and they're not back yet with Uncle Manzo that me, Jebb, Jason, and Mrs. Carter make sure you stay here" Jenny said "I'm sorry Jenny but I have to go, also my Ma and Pa might come with Carrie, Casandra, and Grace while I'm out and if they do can you tell Pa to help look for Manly, same for if Adam and Mary come then tell Adam to help look for Manly too" I said "but Aunt Laura I was told to make sure you stay here" Jenny said "no Jenny Manly is my husband and Mr. Edwards, Mr. Montague, and Mr. Carter are my friends I need to help them so they don't get hurt, you've lived here for a while but you don't know all the stuff that happened to me as a child like Jesse and Frank James, a couple robbers were in Walnut Grove and captured my Pa and my older sister Mary and almost killed them, Mary got kicked in the stomach by a horse and almost died, Doc Baker quit after a patient died and the dead patient's wife was pregnant and went into labor and the doctor replacing Doc Baker was a jerk and didn't care about anyone but himself and Doc Baker had to deliver her baby, Mary was engaged to someone named John Jr. but then he went to college and found someone else and started cheating on Mary, my Pa fell out of a tree trying to get a kite, Carrie fell in a hole when me and Mary were doing a school project, and tons of other bad stuff happened since I moved to Walnut Grove with my family and I need to help Mr. Edwards, Mr. Carter, and Mr. Montague find him" I explained "fine Aunt Laura and when your Pa and brother in law get here I'll send them out to help you unless you or one of the other men come back first" Jenny said "thanks Jenny" I said as I opened the door and left to find my husband.

Almonzo Wilder's P.O.V.
I had fallen out of a tree about 45 minutes ago trying to save a cat and I was now hurting really badly I was supposed to be home an hour ago but I don't know if anyone went out to look for me by now until I heard foot steps and I managed to look over to where they were coming from and they were Laura's footsteps "Manly what happened to you?" My wife asked "I climbed that tree to try and save that cat but I fell" I said "oh Manly we have to get you to Doc Baker" Laura said "can you help me up please Beth?" I asked "yeah" my wife said as she carefully grabbed my arms and helped me up "ow" I said "what hurts Manly" Laura asked "my left leg I can't stand on it my ribs also hurt" I said "I hear a horse maybe it's Mr. Edwards, or Mr. Carter, or Mr. Montague" Laura said we both looked "MR. EDWARDS!" we both yelled hoping that he'd hear us "Laura Almonzo what are you doing out here?" Isaiah asked "I was trying to save a cat that was in that tree but I fell out of it" I explained "and I came out to look for him after I went home and Jenny told nobody knew where he was" Beth said "Half-Pint you go get Doc Baker, I can take Almonzo back to the boarding house" Isaiah said "okay Mr. Edwards" Beth said as she and Isaiah helped me on the back of Isaiah's horse then Beth ran in the direction of Doc Baker's office and Isaiah took me back to the boarding house.

Dr. Hiram Baker's P.O.V.
I was just getting back to from the Novack place since young Stanley Novack hurt his arm while playing with his friends when I saw Laura running here "Laura what brings you here?" I asked "it's Manly he fell out of a tree I think he's hurt badly, he can't stand" Laura said "alright Laura let's go" I said as I pulled Laura up onto my wagon.
