After her breakfast Lacey headed to French lessons. She wanted to go find ot more about Emma but she was treading on thin ice with her Mother if she got sent away she might never find out the mystery that seemed to be in her own home. After French lessons she was exhausted she had just spent two hours stuffed up in a room. She needed sunlight and NOW. She walked out to the gardens and sat on the edge of the statue. She looked at it closely. Ever since she had been finding clues she looked closer at things now then she did before. That's when she noticed that the bottom of the statue had a stone in an area slightly darker the the rest. She touched it and it gave in. The stone fell out and revealed another box. She was stunned. If Emma hid the boxes she was a good hider! She opened the box and a picture fell out again. This time of a young girl who looked about 8. She had long curls and a pretty face. On the back in faded writing it read. "Faye Laura Broadwin. Before Father died. 1855." So that was Faye Broadwin. She still had no clue what Emma looked like. Or who Joy or Baby was. She found anoter entrie with it and read. " I have no clue what the date time or year is any longer. Father had died and now Mother. The baby still holds no name and I wish not to give him one. He took my dearest Mother away from me! The people outside our home say I killed her! I being me Emma May Broadwin killed my own Mother! What a rumor! People believe it though and I fear for my life and the girls. I have decided to shut down broadwin house for the time being until rumors are put to rest. No one but our tutor milkman maids and gardener shall enter. I am only a 14 year old girl! Why did this happen? For now I do not know but what I do know is Faye Joy and Baby must be taken care of. That is what I will call him for now. Baby" E.M.B. That was the longest entrie yet. So her Mother did die but Emma didn't do it. It was childbirth that did. That's why she shut up broadwin house it was to protect her. But what did the locket have to do with this? Or Baby? Why was her Mama so strange lately? Why was Chester still trying to get her sent the the "special" school. She would find out. She hoped. She sat there just wondering. The sun was now low in the sky and a summer chill went through the breeze. She was tired very tired so she walked inside. She went up to sleepily change for dinner and put her hair up. She washed up and fixed her bookshelf. That was odd all her books were kept very neat by her. Titles seemed rearranged but then....Emma's book was gone! She franticly searched her room tearing apart bedding drawers and desks. Nothing. Someone had been in her room and they had taken the book. Her door was opened by Chester. Here she was hands and knees on the floor hair all messed up and her face red. "What don't you know how to knock?!?!?" She asked flipping her hair up and back into her bun. "Certianly I do but as you know Laceine a temper is unbecoming of a lady." She was sure by now fire was spitting out of her head she was that mad. "Chester there is NOTHING becoming about you." She walked off towards dinner not caring if her face was red or her hair was falling out of her bun or that her dress was one her Mama hated. She didnt care. She was done caring.
