For the last half of spring break Anatasia reads and studies incessantly. She is eager to learn and is very interested in everything she's learning. She even discusses the most interesting facts she learned from her biology book with me. For example, octopi can hold grudges! If you reward one octopus all the time and don't reward the other, the one who didn't get rewarded will attack the other one if they are put in the same tank.
On the first day after spring break, Anatasia is getting her class schedule. I'm taking her to the office to show her where it is. When Anatasia gets her schedule and leaves the principal tells me, "I made sure that Annie has some classes with you. Since she switched schools so recently and so suddenly, it would help her transition."
Through the day I watch Anatasia in the halls. She seems kind of quiet, like she's observing everything before she can join in. She also seems less guarded than when she first came to Celestia. On the bus ride home, I ask her, "How are you feeling, cuz? How was your first day?"
Anatasia replies, "Tiring but the kind of tiring when you know you spent the day well."
"Good."
When we get home Anatasia says, "It's kind of weird. As I'm pretending to be someone else, I feel like I've never been more myself."
During the next few days, Anatasia slowly becomes less quiet. She's even heading towards Olivia and I in the cafeteria instead of eating in the library. She comes to the table and says, "Hi. Can I sit here?"
Olivia replies, "Of course, Annie!"
I add, "Get over here, cuz!"
Anatasia says, "I'm looking to join some clubs. Do you guys recommend anything?"
"Olivia and I are both on the debate team and the school newspaper. I'm also in the Physics Olympics and Olivia is in the Coding Club."
"I think I'll join the debate club and the newspaper. By the way, I was wondering what you guys were discussing before I got here."
Olivia replies, "We're doing a new experiment on Saturday and we were working it out. You can help us and have some fun with gravity. The experiment is an anti gravity chamber."
I ask, "With electromagnets?"
"Yeah."
"That sounds fun. Count me in."
The next day Anatasia is at the newspaper meeting. She signs up to review a movie with Olivia. Anatasia is getting really close to Olivia.
