Chapter 13: I Won't Say I'm In Love

AN: Y'all know what time it is!! 

3rd Person POV

Kara laughs along with Lena who was laughing with her about the mob that attacked her earlier in the day before the fall into a comfortable silence and continue walking around. 

 There are birds chirping in the cool night air. 

After a minute of silence, they reach a staircase into a beautiful courtyard and Kara says "Wow. What a day" She really hadn't had a day off in several days and she was desperate for a breather after all the monsters. "First, that restaurant by the bay and then that play, that Oedipus thing. Man! I thought I had problems." 

Lena chuckles but Kara doesn't hear the pain hiding in it. 

Kara is distracted by a statue as one of the birds says "Psst! Stop foolin' around!" drawing Lena's attention. 

The bird's heads change to Jack and James as James says "Yeah. Get the goods, sister" 

Of course, Lex would send thing one and thing two to keep an eye on her. 

The demons turn back into birds when Kara turns around giving Lena doe eyes as she says "I didn't know that playing hooky could be so much fun." 

Lena sighs wistfully as she says "Yeah. Neither did I."

"Thanks, Lena"

"Oh," She chuckles nervously before quietly saying "Don't thank me just yet" Lena fakes her knees collapsing as she falls but Kara easily catches her. 

"Oop. Careful" Kara says quietly as she holds Lena to her chest. 

"Sorry. Weak ankles" Lena says breathlessly. 

"Oh, yeah?" Kara picks up Lena and gently moves her over to a nearby bench. "Well, maybe you better sit down for a while." before setting her down. 

"So, uh do you have any problems with things like this?" Lena says moving closer to Kara who had set her down before sitting a reasonable distance away. Kara blushes at Lena getting so close to her. "Weak ankles, I mean" Lena adds when Kara doesn't respond. Running a hand up and down muscled arms. 

Kara gets her senses back at the touch and says "Oh, no. Not really." as she moves away from Lena. 

The raven-haired moves closer as she says "No weaknesses whatsoever? No trick knee? Ruptured disks?" 

Kara falls off the bench and stands before sputtering for a minute and saying "No. I'm afraid I'm, uh fit as a fiddle."

Lena groans frustrated as she says "Wonderwomen, you are perfect."

Kara doesn't hear the annoyance as she grabs a rock and skips it as she says "Thanks." Kara flinches when the rock crashes into a statue. "Whoops!" 

Lena giggles behind her hand before walking over to Kara and leaning an arm against her shoulder and saying "It looks better that way." as they give the statue a once over. "No, it really does." 

Kara stares at Lena next to her and Lena stares back. 

There is a moment of tense silence and Kara starts to lean in slowly but a flash of light breaks the moment. 

They look up to see a shooting star fly across the star-filled sky. 

Kara moves away and with a happy sigh says "You know, when I was a kid, I would have given anything to be exactly like everybody else."

Lena scoffs as she crosses her arms over her chest and says "You wanted to be petty and dishonest?"

Kara's eyebrows furrow as she says "Everybody isn't like that"
