Chapter 14

We got back from the concert and I immediately went to the bed. "Tired?" I nodded rolling over on my back. "So..... Ella, your birthday is not over yet...." Cody trailed on. "I have more for you then just the necklace."

I grabbed hold of my new necklace, I loved it, it was just my style. Cody walked over to the bathroom door and came out with two things, "Oh m gosh!" I ran up to the first thing.

"Charlie!!!" I yelled petting my dog, Charlie hopped all around me very excited to see me. "Cody! How did you manage this!" I said smiling, "Oh you know, I knew you missed her so it was your second out of tons of birthday presents." I ran up and hugged him.

"Was one asking to be your girlfriend?" He shook his head no, "That was something I waited for you to do, which was say I love you." He said, hugging me tighter.

" I do have a few more gifts for you." He said, reaching over to the big box he carried out with caharile. He handed it to me and I took it. It was surprisingly really heavy. "Cody?...." I asked cautiously.

"Open it," I carefully opened it. Inside was something I've wanted ever since I could remember. "Cody!!" I yelled, giving him a big kiss. "What are you going to name him?" He asked. "Well, first we have to see if Charlie likes him." I said.

Charlie looked at the kitten, sniffing it, and slowly but surly loved the kitten. "I'm going to name him, Harold, harry." I said. "I like that name." Cody said petting the kitten. "But who's going to take care of him?" I asked.

"Well, Charlie's going home tomorrow, and harry will stay with us." He said. "He's small enough that he can come along." Cody replied. I was happy and sad, happy to keep harry, sad to leave Charlie again.

I heard my hotel door open, our lights went out and Charlie started to growl. "Cody?" I whispered, I felt his hand reach for mine , I held harry close afraid to lose him or any one else. Our door shut, "Ella, follow." Cody whispered.

"I know your in here!" A man said. I felt Cody tug on my arm even more. "There's no where you can hide! I'll find you!" The man yelled again. Harry gave a soft meow. Great.

"There you are..." I could almost tell the man was grinning evilly. I felt Cody's hand let go of mine, I wanted so badly for him to keep holding mine, "Not this time!" I felt Cody jump up and hit the man with a pan we had in the room.

I sat there the entire time afraid to move. "Ella! Come one move!" I heard Cody say, I picked up harry and grabbed Charlie and Cody and I ran out of the building. "Where's George?" I asked still running.

"That's where we are going, he's at the sto-" Cody tripped and fell with me following close behind. "Well, well, guess we caught both of them." The man said. I felt Cody being lifted out from under me, I held tight to harry and Charlie.

"Grab the girl, we don't want her running away to get the police." I was lifted off the floor. "Cody!" I yelled. He can't be taken by these people, they were going to kill him. I kicked the man behind me, I took off running.

When I got far enough, I held Charlie and harry before looking back at where the men were. They held Cody tying his arms, one held him by his neck, I watched until I saw them start to beat him.

I had to get to George.

I quickly ran to where the buses were and dropped off Charlie and Harry, giving them food and water before heading to where Cody started to say George was. The store

When I got to the store I frantically looked for George, when I found him, he knew something was wrong. "Ella? Where's Cody?" He steadied me, "He, was....t-taken by the people- w-who tried to kill him." I said out of breathe.

"Come on- let's go." He said. "Can you explain w-why they tried to kill him?" I asked near tears. Cody was in trouble and I wanted to know why, my boyfriend was in trouble.

"It wasn't him, it was his parents that committed the crime. Ella, his parents are dead and they want the closet thing to them....." "Explain this like you were talking to a ten year old." I said.

"It was said that Cody's parents were very rich, and they were, but they scammed multiple people to get where they were money wise, at one point they were on their way to someone's house, and they killed a little boy. Not on purpose, but Cody's parents were evil in ways. That's why he never talked about them. They kidnapped countless people, murdered many people, and kept Cody locked away."

"What does that have to do with them going after Cody?" I asked still trying to get a grasp on the blurry world.

"They kidnapped an entire family Ella, the only one who survived was Reese Holts." George said pushing me into the car.

"When he got home he swore revenge on his parents for killing his family and countless others , he wanted to kill them. When they died from a car crash, it turns out they robbed Reese Holts house, including his money and belongings."

"When does Cody come into this story?" Even though I knew exactly why. "Last I heard. Cody stole his girlfriend and soon to be wife, Reese didn't know Cody was their son, when he found out, everything from Cody's parents past and Reese's girlfriend came down on Reese. He wants to kill Cody."

"Oh no..... I know who Reese is." I said, beginning to hyperventilate. "Ella? Ella, what do you mean, know Reese?" George said driving to who knows where. " I know Reese." I said. George had a confused look on his face.

"Reese......"

"He was my ex boyfriend."
