Looking down at Dublin's busy city streets through my bedroom window, I realised how high up I lived. Almost in the clouds if the weather was bad enough. You could barely make out if the toy-like objects below were human or car. It was all so beautiful. You could watch the seasons change from up here. The trees on the outskirts of the city would go from rich green to a soft cherry pink, to crimsons and ambers and golds and to nothing, simply a bare tree with no life but deep under the ground.
My parents were extremely protective people. They had good intentions in keeping me safe but they went about it the wrong way. They kept me from having a life. Ever since I can remember they would drive me to school and straight back home when it was over. I wasn't allowed to take public transport or venture into the city. I often felt like Rapunzel trapped away in my tall tower, waiting for a my prince to come and save me. I don't recall ever going to a friends house either. Then again I only ever had one true friend and he didn't even have a home...
