In this city there is no life. Well a good life that is. Always gloomy and frightening and it’s infected with drug dealers and rapist. Where ever you go you are scared to get harmed or invaded by them. It’s even scarier to think that your family is the only family in this city that is as some people like to say white American. Yes there are orphans in this city that are white American but they actually work for the drug dealers and rapist and that’s how this all started. I was walking one day with my mom and brother in the park on our way home when we were stopped by thugs. Great I though what do they want know. Scared my brother and I hid to the side while my mom was left to face them.
“Take off all you clothing right now or you and your children will be shot.” , Commanded the thug ready to take his pistol from his pocket.
With no expression at all and looking just straight ahead my mom put down her bags that she was previously caring and one by one laid her clothes next to her on the ground until she was completely naked. She did not dare to turn her head or change her expression. She felt humiliated standing in the middle of the park looking this way but she knew she had to do it for herself and her children.
“Put your clothes back on and leave.” The thug commanded her again before running off with his friend.
She did without a word. My brother and I had to watch the whole thing we were silent because we knew one word could cost us our lives.
“Mom, are you okay?”, I asked with a little shakiness in my voice.
“Fine, let’s get out of here.” She said again with no expression on her face.
We walked back home, all three of us, without a word. Once we got back home it was around 12:46 even though we left around 9:00 that morning. My brother was left at home with my father in fear that something would happened to him on the streets again if he went with us. My mom and I decided to go and get some lunch so we went to our favorite restaurant called Paradise. It took a while to get there because we had to travel to the other side of the city. We stopped at some stores just for fun since we we’re not that hungry. We had gotten to the restaurant but had not yet entered. Unexpectedly a group of three guys came behind us. They were all young. I would say about 14. One came up behind me and put his arm around my waist. He had beautiful big brown eyes and flippy brown hair that was just slightly messy. His teeth were amazingly straight yet he still wore braces with blue bands. He was wearing a nice pair of jeans, a blue, black, and white flannel shirt with another shirt underneath. Also he had matching converse on. For what I knew then I would say he was a great guy and pretty cute to. That was before I got to know who he really was.
“Want to have Lunch with me?” He asked with a smile. I looked back at my mom with pleading eyes and she just nodded back and gave me the okay. We got a booth and ordered. He asked me a few questions about myself and I asked him some. From what I knew at that point he seemed like a great person. In between of our conversation somewhere we became a couple. After lunch we took a walk down the streets of this gruesome city holding hands. A thug came up to Ryan and I and asked Ryan,
“Do I have to take her messenger bag?” He laughed and then ran away.
“No, that wouldn’t be right, leave her alone.” Ryan retorted at him.
That is when I realized that there was a connection between Ryan and the Thugs. I was scared at first not knowing what to do but then I thought if Ryan really loved me then he would take care of me and nothing would happened to me or my family.
