They found that they had another guest coming in to their celestial office. Carrying a clipboard behind their desk they peered over, able to see them sitting and waiting.
"Raymond Mont, age seventeen. Died from internal bleeding after a knife wound. That's you, right?"
Looking up from their clipboard they saw the person who sat uncomfortably, looking left and right before answering.
"Yes, that's me. You mind telling me where I am?"
Raymond Mont was an unusual boy, with messy blond hair and an uncomfortable room he found himself someplace unusual. Hearing his own autopsy shook him, the boy unsure if he were dreaming or not.
The room they were in was unusually bright, the walls a pale white, not a single window or door. All it had was the desk and two chairs where the man sat behind.
With a pen the figure scribbled onto the clipboard before answering him.
"You're in the constant, the place between life and death. Before you panic, realize that everyone visits this place at least once in their life."
"That's not funny..."
Raymond had an irritated look, a bit of anger in his voice as he growled back. The figure shook their head, picking up black frame glasses, placing it onto their blank face.
"At this point you would be sent straight to the afterlife, but I have an offer for you."
Waving his hand he refused the offer immediately, answering quickly.
"Not interested. Send me over to the afterlife already."
The figure completely ignored Raymond's request, continuing as if he didn't already answer.
"My offer is to send you to a new world where the laws of nature are changed, allowing you to live a completely different life than before."
"No thanks."
"I'm sure you'll enjoy it. You'll fit right in."
With the flick of their hand a light began to glow under Raymond, his chair vanishing as he was left standing. Seeing his answer be ignored he started to argue, a bit panicked.
"Wait! I said no! What's going on?"
"Relax. It'll sting a little."
The light grew brighter, a sigh coming out of Raymond who found that he had no choice. Looking over he saw the figure who waved goodbye, a smile on their featureless face.
Opening his eyes he found himself standing atop a grassy hill. Surrounding him were clouds that seemed too low, as if the sky had been lowered down to his level. He soon realized he was standing on a floating continent.
