Lindy's Point of View

As I parked in the space where I normally pick Sara up from school, I couldn't help, but notice her lips locked with one of the drop outs. I grew up with their siblings, and knew, they'd eventually get into alcohol and drugs, if they weren't already. I honked the horn, since she was too preoccupied to notice my car. "Sara!" I yelled, out of the passengers window. Just to irritate me more, she made sure that I saw her drag out their kiss.

When Sara finally got in, I scolded her, "Do you have to disobey everything I tell you?" She rolled her eyes, while looking out the window, "You're not Mom, so you can stop acting like it." I laughed coldly, griping the steering wheel a little bit tighter, and narrowing my eyes at the road. "I only treat you like this, because I care about you." Even if Sara doesn't understand the idea of tough love now, eventually, she will be thanking me.

Changing the subject, I glanced at her, my features softening, "Are you in the mood to grab something to eat?" Without making eye contact, Sara nodded her head. Ten minutes later, we were waiting in a drive thru line, when suddenly she had to use the bathroom. "Hurry." I urged. Sara hopped out of the car, and I ordered two medium meals for us.

As the line straightened, I could see her leaning her back against a concrete post. The rain began to pick up, and an unsettling feeling in my stomach formed, as a black van pulled up behind Sara. It all happened quickly, while I felt like my body was responding in slow motion. Someone in a black ski mask, jumped out of the van, grabbing, and lifting her up. Sara clawed at the post, struggling to hold on, due to the rain. I jumped out of the door, but by the time I was climbing over the tops of cars in front of me, I knew that it was too late to rescue her. Sara had been abducted.

3 Years Later

"I know how it feels, to not know what happened to a love one, and be helpless in the matter." I told a mother, named Ms. Becker. "But, you did the right thing coming to me." She grabbed my hand, squeezing it slightly, "I just, I don't understand how Julia could vanish like this? The police aren't doing anything, and I feel like you're my last hope Lindy. Lindy? Lindy?!"

"What?!" My head snapped up, to meet George's concerned face. "You were daydreaming, again." He laughed, lightly. "Sorry, I was thinking about Julia Becker." He cocked an eyebrow, "Do you want me to do some digging?" I smiled, and got up from my chair, grabbing my leather jacket, "That would be awesome."

"Well, I'm leaving to get this thing off." I stated, pointing at the tracker device on my ankle. "See you tomorrow Lindy." I was already half way out of the office, and waved goodbye to my friend. Now, I just have to prepare myself to see Ben for the first time in weeks.

He was waiting for me outside the office, and my heart skipped a beat against my will. No matter how hard I tried to convince myself that I wasn't, I knew deep down, I was in love with Ben. "How are you Lindy?" He asked, with the palm of his hand pressed against the small of my back, to help guide me to the nearest bench. When the warmth of Ben's touch disappeared, I felt a sinking hole in the pit of my stomach. "Okay, I guess. How about you?"

He reached down, and lifted up my leg onto his lap. Ignoring my question, Ben began to roll up my jeans, as slowly as possible, "This is your last time you have to see me." My subconscious kept screaming at me, to tell him, 'I want to see you, I'm in love with you Ben!' But my mouth didn't listen, "I know."

I didn't even realize the tracker was off, until I looked down to still see his hand holding onto my ankle. "We don't have to end things like this Lindy." "It's a little bit late for that Ben, don't you think?" He sighed, "I was doing my job, and I know that you were looking for your Sister, but you can't justify hacking into our system." "If I wanted another lecture, I could of gone to someone else." I knew Ben was hurt by what I said, but he hid it well. Do you ever think what it would be like, if we met another time?" I looked him dead in the eyes, leaning forward, so my breath tingled against his face, "No."
