"Falling in love is not rational. It's madness. A beautiful, wonderful, moment of magnificent insanity."
- Michael Faudet
I have one job today, and God forbid someone tries to keep me from doing it.
It's only ten in the morning and my day has gotten fucked in a hundred different ways. Like, seriously, it's been a while since I've had such a sequel of shitty things happening on a really short period of time, I like to think of it as since I've changed my luck. But something sure as hell is up today and I hope for everyone's sake that the only thing that gets in my way is minimum unfortunate distress scenarios. Like the fact that I've just customized my shirt with a huge hole in the center because of that fucking flatiron.
As I pull myself some coffee, my heart races a bit with the hectic agitation of notifications popping on my screen cell.
How fun, both of my bosses are having a major attack at the same time. My schedule is going to absolutely love that.
"Good morning, my sunshine. So, Chadwick and I were talking, and we have decided that since you've been getting tight on schedule we're assigning you a partner for some of the tasks, I' sure you're going to love her. Here's her contact, she'll be expecting you at the parking lot at night, ten minutes before the run."
What the bloody hell? I have to dig into this.
"Hi babe, is everything okay?" I was about to grizzle about the unfairness of my life when I noticed that Hattie sounded quite puffy.
"Why do you sound breathless at a Monday 10 am for God's sake?"
"What?" She just had that glow in the voice of someone who just had a huge orgasm, I could tell.
"Don't mind me. Get back to whatever you were doing."
"No, it's fine. Go on, talk!"
"I've got a schedule rearrangement. It's supposed to happen today, at the night shift."
"Oh, shit. Is it a big deal?"
"I'm not sure. They're assigning me a partner, I wanted to check in if you've heard of anything, not sure what to feel about such a sudden act."
"I'm officially worried as well. This isn't like the boys at all, drop something new like that without any meetings."
"That's exactly what I was thinking. Anyway, the message tone was really chill, but still, I couldn't shake off this feeling that something's up."
"Boy or girl?"
"Girl."
"Oh, please be hot."
"Don't go marrying me to some random girl you weirdo. But since you've touched that spot..."
"No boys babe. Just 'handies'. I was dying of boredom till you called and now I'm kind of happy to see that I've got a full day. Did they give you a name?"
