Charlie Barker was the best homicidal detective on the New York police force, everyone in the city knew it – apart from Charlie himself because in his eyes his partner was the best – and believed it too. Charlie was the kind of male that had a wide, but strong chest, baby blue eyes that reminded anyone who met him of a tropical ocean and had light brown hair that had a hint of blonde. Most of Charlie’s friends told him that he looked a lot like Olly Murs (which Charlie didn’t mind as he had met Olly and thought Olly was a great man) and that he was quite a cheeky chappy; Charlie lived alone in an apartment, quite a distant away from the police station he worked at, with his Husky dog - Bolt.
Charlie and his partner in the detective department, Katie Harrison (who had long raven black hair, emerald green eyes and wasn’t much shorter than Charlie; she had quite the skinny figure and lived alone in an apartment with a German shepherd dog – except she tended to look after her niece when she had the time and Charlie sometimes helped), were sat at their desks, sorting through an enormous pile of paperwork. Katie was the type of woman who kept to herself and would only share things with people she knew she could trust, like Charlie; Kate was quite shy and only came out of her shell when she was around Charlie, when they messed about.
The two detectives sat in a medium sized office, which had a green carpet in the middle of the blue carpeted floor; their cabinets full to the brim with paperwork of cases and paper work about victims/ offenders. The walls had a bulletin board on the side closest to Charlie’s desk – which was the one just next to the door leading into the station – and there was the odd painting near Katie’s desk, which sat next to the window and back door. In the two detectives’ desk drawers, they kept a gun each in case of an emergency; the room had a simple lamp shade to let light in and there was a desk lamp on each desk. Charlie took a glance at the room’s clock, and then looked at his wrist watch.
“Almost clocking out time, Kate.” Charlie began to pack away his pile of paperwork, so that his cluttered desk would look slightly cleaner; he took a quick glance at Katie to see she wasn’t moving or even packing her putting her pen down.
“Not for me; I asked the boss if I could stay behind for a bit, so I could finish sorting through this.” Katie told Charlie, who was already getting his dark brown trench coat on, as she hinted at the piling paperwork; she took a short break to see Charlie walking towards the back door and turned to stop in the middle of the room.
“Okay, could you do me a favour, Kate, could you maybe get a bit of organising done for me?” Charlie grinned as he walked back towards Katie, “I’ll pay you back any way you like,”
“Fine,” Kate grinned as he walked her into a hug, “Get us a coffee tomorrow, before you come to work.
“Okay, sure thing and thanks, I’m sure the boss would have me if he found out I haven’t done much; see ya later, beautiful.” Charlie winked with his signature cheeky grin in place on his face; Katie smiled at him, still trying to organise her desk.
“You’re such a flirt, Charlie Barker.” Katie giggled slightly as Charlie began to tickle her into a hug as she playfully refused, “See ya; you going out the back for a change, then?”
“I parked my car out back, so yeah; I guess you could say that.” Charlie waved again as he walked out of the back door; as soon as Charlie closed the door, he felt a sudden sharp blow to the back of his head – knocking him instantly unconscious.
Charlie only got glimpse of the person who did so before going unconscious; he saw they were just as tall as him and that they were quite large, apart from that, which was all he could see.
