Chapter 14
Have I fallen in love?
The question isn't that simple though. There are so many little parts to it and I'm not even an Elite yet. Ahren is your average dream guy. Perfect looks, polite, funny, and just lovable. But what do I know about love? I've seen it before of course. My parents, Kendall, before her breakup. The thing is I have her to experience it myself. I have read books upon books with love in them. I love my family, but that's different. A boy has never even liked me, or at least from what I know of. I have had crushes on some kids, but have I ever been in love? No.
Meals were much better with Isabella and me being friends again. More laughing, talking, and just fun. Alyssa has been awfully quiet these past days and I'm wondering if she's afraid to get kicked out. She's obviously still jealous of Piper who seems to have skimpier dresses by the hour. Might as well wear underwear, I felt like saying as she tried to flirt with Ahren earlier today. Hence the word tried. Alyssa is more "notice me, not them" and "I'm the best here". But who knows what will happen. I can see the girls changing. Starting to wear more makeup, acting more reserved and poised. Even Alexis is slowly drifting away from us. Lyla, Isabella, and I are now the power three. We do a lot together, always hang out, you know, that type of stuff. I've noticed Alexis with Chrassity and Emilia a lot. Chrassity is a two, and Emilia is a four even though she acts much higher. Alexis is starting to be like that. She used to giggle and joke around, but now she's just so.. distant. Ilena is also starting to fit in a bit with out little group. Lyla and her have a lot in common and she's really nice and sweet. It is sometimes easy to forget their all competition.
After dinner Lyla, Isabella, and Ilena all join me in my bedroom.
"So, what 'stage' are you at with Ahren?" Lyla asked.
"Let's start with kissing," Ilena said giggling. Should I tell them?
"Izzy you first," I said gesturing to Isabella.
"I haven't kissed him, but he kissed my cheek. She pointed to Lyla.
"He hasn't even hugged me," she said glumly. "I won't be surprised if in out soon."
"Don't worry Ly he will probably love you. Maybe he just doesn't know you well enough," I said trying to cheer her up.
"Yah, I guess. Even if I do get booted I'll be happy I even made it into the competition. I really hope we can stay in touch."
"We can write, or once we all go home or one of is wins we can call each other."
"So back to kisses," Ilena says. "Kathleen what about you?"
"I-I have kissed him..twice."
"Oh my god TWICE!" everyone gushes.
"You two are so going to get married," Isabella jokes.
"Now you," I say giving a sky look too Ilena.
"I kissed him once. He looked happy and said he had a good time. I don't really know where we are at."
"Well it's getting late we should probably go to bed before we et caught."
Everyone agrees with nods and we all say goodbye. What will i do when we're separated? I ring for my maids and they all come and get me ready. I have become closer with them and Delilah is really sweet. Her green eyes are alway happy and she smiles like there's no tomorrow. The palace isn't so bad after all.
I wake up to a guard.
"Lady Kathleen, the rebels are here." He helps he get my slippers, but I don't have enough time to get my robe. We run down to a safe room. Girls are shaken, but it was worse last time. The one that really looks horrified is Gabriella. Her knees are pulled to her chest and she slowly rocking herself back and forth. Silent tears are falling down her cheeks and her eyes are huge. She barely blinking. There are a few girls and a maid trying to calm her down, but she just flinches away every time. Isabella is with Lyla and Ilena. I walk over to them and sit down. I shiver, but I'm not really one to complain. When I got to the palace my first night I couldn't stand the night gowns so I got a pair of pajama shorts and I sweat shirt to wear to bed. There's girls in only thin night gowns. We stay in the safe room until the next morning. We finally gets out and while I am walking I hear two maids talking about Sophia."That slut," I hear one say. "She was supposed to be on duty and apparently she was secretly making out with a guard."
"Really I heard she was kissing him in her lady's room and she walked in on them. Then a big fight started and she slapped the lady."
Her words anger me. Sophia is so sweet and funny, she wouldn't be violent. The maids walk out if the room they were in and see me. Their mouths drop open. They quickly curtsy and scurry away. I hate the fact the I intimidated them, but how could they say that. Isn't it also I bit stereotypical for maids to gossip? Have the guards been saying thing too? Are my own maids talking about her too? This castle had more drama them those fake magazines twos read. Wow.
On what I think is the first floor. I find a guard who looks like he could help.
"Um, sorry sir I just got a bit lost, do you think you could help me?"
He turns around and gives he detailed instructions on how to get back. I would probably for get everything...As I walk I take more wrong turns and haven't even found a stair case. I go hallway through hallway until I take a turn that leads me to a tall, dirty brunette figure. Sophia.
A/N: Sort of another filler chapter, I am trying to make them longer though.
