The Pit, all wizards of this generation know The Pit, a story that is told to ugly little children to frighten them, an urban legend that everyone knows but does not want to recognize. A place where wizards suffer.

The truth is much more beautiful.

It all started after Harry Potter's victory, the Dark Mages declined in number, along with them, the threat and interest of Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, indeed, who is evil now as the Dark Lord is dead?

So, wizards eager for thrills, those who want to do battle, have created a combat sport.

The principle is simple, to fight one against one or with several in an arena.

At the beginning there were several rules, there was no distinction with the duels, then someone came up with an idea that would revolutionize the sport. You don't need several rules to fight, only one is enough: do not use the [Avada Kedavra] spell.

A spark was ignited, everyone was looking for a way to beat the enemy without killing them directly, potions were allowed, wizards could have a blast using any spell except death, the most dangerous fantastic creatures were sent there like dragons, ogres, werewolf, troll, vampire, and more.

This sport could turn the most honest of people into the most sadistic there is; cries of pain were the only sound we could hear from this arena, hence the name of the Pit.

However, wizards would die, either by receiving a powerful spell full force or of their injury, physical or psychological, because one does not leave the Pit unscathed, no never.

The Ministry did not like this barbaric practice that sent wizards back to the days of ancient gladiators, if caught players pay a fine, organizers are sent to Azkaban.

Despite the risks proclaimed by the Ministry, the Pit was not going to stop so far, this sport responded to the envy, to the drive of every wizard: glory, thrill, combat, a competition, a raison d'être.

Other organizers have replaced those who were arrested, being more careful in learning from the mistakes of others. The Pit had become clandestine, the spectators are only known to the organizers, the combatants receive an invitation. The fights are filmed and sold as entertainment for wizards, a violent sport certainly but sport nonetheless which interests several wizards either through participation or viewing.

This activity divided wizards into two distinct categories: natural wizards and combat wizards.

The natural or the servants as the fighters of the Pit call them are the sorcerers who live their daily life using magic, use various spells which are mainly intended to improve their everyday life and possibly defend themselves.

Combat wizards live like muggles and only use magic to fight, they upgrade and create spells that aim to protect themselves and destroy their opponent.

Two out of ten students have fought in The Pit. In general, after the first fight, parents, who want to engulf their child, realize their mistake and call their child back.

William Smith is also one of those children who are sent by their parents to the Pit by challenge, to see if he would be able to survive there after a fight.

So explains Alexandre Crowley to the audience. He raises the bets.

Those present rush to bet on William. If it was a second round between Daeren Blackwood and James Smith, the bet would be in favor of Daeren who has just demonstrated an unsuspected fighting ability. Except this time around his opponent is a 6th year student and not just any, William Smith, and Crowley makes sure to remind the public of that.
