Landon Dean Starling, my bestfriend. He's handsome, rich, succrssful and intelligent. He's a man of few words. Jamie Taylor Evanough, that's me. About me? I'm simple city girl, a successful journalist and I have an apartment. There's not much to say about me really.

"Jamie!" I hear someone outside my door. Oh, it must be him. I throw my notebook on the shelf and walk to my living room.

"Wait a minute!" I call. I took a second to look on the mirror. Yes, I look good, that's a first.

I walk and opened the door.

"Hey, look what I brought!" He grinned.

Landon raised a bottle of wine, 3 boxes of pizza and icecream. My eyes widen in surprise but I must admit I'm happy plus hungry,

"Wow, come in!" I murmur.

Landon stepped in and closed the door. I made my way to the kitchen and grabbed our glasses bowls and spoons.

"So, what brings you here?" I scoffs.

I sit beside him as he opens the first box of pizza.

"To celebrate our anniversary! It's been about five years, Jamie!" Landon answers.

"What?" I blush.

Landon shows off this smile, oh, his dimple.

"Since we became friends." He answers.

I grab a slice of pizza to cover my shyness and eat it. Duh, ofcourse this is about our friendship, what else would it be? Landon opened the bottle of wine and poured some on our glasses.

"You're really one awesome girl yopu know." He whispers.

I laugh, what the hell is he on today?

"Where that come from?" I prompt, chukling at him. He chuckles. Landon such an awesome person I"ve known. I remember, even though he was in the middle of an important meeting he went to my appartment because he got the news I was sick. I never knew he valued me that much.

"Seriously, you are. And I'm glad that you're here." He says.

"Thanks." I say.

"So how's that speed dating going?" Landon teased.

My eyes widen in surprise. How did he know? Wait, Jackie!

"Jackie told you? I say frustratingly, covering my face. I hear another laugh from him.

"Relax, Jamie. It's nothing, so how was it?" He murmur.

I pull my glass and drink it all distract me from the idea of the stupid speed dating I went through. How did it go? Well, pretty much horrible.

"One word, fail." I answer.

He frowns "really? Who wouldn't like you?" He said. I blush again, damn it. I pour wine on my glass and eat another slice of pizza.

"It was horrible, there was this one guy that I went out picked his nose infront of me and rubbed it on the table." I say in disgust.

Landons eyes widen.

"It is that bad." He says.

"Yeah." I nod. We both agree.

London and I continued the night drinking wine and eating pizza. We only finished two boxes though. Landon couldn't stop talking about what happened last week on his business trip in Thailand and about my speed dating. Then both of us nibbled on some ice cream and continued talking.

"So, I wonder why we never got together." Landon suddenly says.

I almost drop my bowl from panic. "What?" I say.

There's that look in his eyes that I've tried to avoid to stare at for years, his deep look that sets any girls heart beating fast and cheeks blushing.

"What if we try?" He asks seriously.

BOOM, MY HEART EXPLODED.

"That's insane if you even think it'll work, no." I say avoiding his look.

"Insane? Why would it be?" He asks seriously.

I feel my mouth dropping. I admit, before I had a feelings for Landon but I know I am not the girl for him. He deserves someone better than me.

"Because you.." I couldn't continue.

"Me?" His eyebrows narrowed. I gently nod.

"You, you're up there, on top. Me, I'm just a simple girl, look at what I have." I protest.

He slowly moves closer to me, his face a few inches away. I could smell the aroma of the wine. I look at him straight.

"Do you think that matters?" He says.

He stay gaze at me as I'm lost with words.

"Yes it does, it does. Why should we be together?" I flinch. He gives me a smile.

"Why not?" He whispers.

I feel the moment heat up and our hands touch. His eyes close gently and his face close to mine. He looks like an angel, oh beautiful. I close my eyes slowly. As much as I want him, the thought of him going to kiss because he's drunk is wrong.

"Stop." I say, gently pulling him away. Both our eyes flicker. He looks away and the space between us opens and cuts us apart.

"You're drunk you should go home." I say getting up.

"I'm not drunk." He protest.

I didn't answer back, I took the bowls, glasses and the bottle of wine in the kitchen. What have I done? Did I just hurt my best friend? I need to apologize.

I opened the kitchen door "I'm sorry." Landon apologized as he surprisingly stood infront of the kitchen door.

"It's okay. I'm sorry too." I say.

Suddenly, he pulled in his arms, hugging me tight. I couldn't help but to hold him tighter.
