In the distance, strobe lights of red and blue flash. I'm the first to see it but as I look at Zoe and witness her eye twitch, a millisecond later, the twins simultaneously see it too.
Immediately they stand and spin, their schoolgirl skirts flare, and they begin to dash in the direction of the quickly approaching oncoming lights. Within moments an unnecessary amount of cop cars are screeching as they obnoxiously slide in donut shapes to form an authority-driven wall.
I make an instinctive request, "Zoe turn it up!" The music had been low in my ears for the very reason I was ordering it to be loud now. Before she fulfills her duty, I already issue the next order. This is for everyone, "Run!" I yell this to the Technorati, our raver-friends, hoping frantic gestures will reach them above their community service groove.
It works! They run in the opposite direction of the cop barricade, onto backstreets, and alleys. The smoke created from our adversaries' entrance helps screen their retreat. Time freezes. I am in awe...
Time starts again but in adrenaline slow-mo. Paint droplets and streaks levitate while the music in my remote control earbuds begins to deliver increasing sounds like a wobbling gong.
As the sound infuses my being and moves toward heart-center, I am overcome by sound-induced ecstasy. Each heartbeat is empowered by ever-increasing reverberations. There's a short eternity of sweet darkness, all I am is sound.
