I jolted awake.

3:52 AM

This wasn't odd for me.

I had the same adrenaline rush and cold sweat.

And all I dreamt of was blood.

This time was different.

The air was thick.

It felt familiar.

I rose out of my sticky with seat bed.

My palms shook as I grasped the doorknob.

My hand slipped off.

I brought my fingertips to my nose.

The copper stung my nostrils.

Blood.

I wiped my nose and found the culprit.

I let it drip down my face down my neck.

The air was still thick.

Suffocating.

I should stay in my room.

I opened the bedroom door and peered down the hallway.

Darkness.

Someone was there.

Watching me.

There.

Down the hall they went.

I followed suit.

They went downstairs.

They air in my house was no where to be found.

The dark figure was in the family room.

3:54 AM

My parents sat on the couch.

"Do you see him?"

Nothing.

"He's going to hurt you."

Silence

"We should leave."

Death

"Get up."

When I touched my father's hand my suspicions were confirmed.

"You killed my parents, my sister."

My younger sister was in the fetal position in a pool of her own blood, with her stuffed cat.

My parents sat next to each other like they normally would do if they were alive.

"Are you going to kill me next?"

3:547 AM

Suicide.

"I'm no murderer, I didn't cause this."

The blood from their bodies ruined my mother's favorite sofa.

My sisters blood stained my father's rug from Persia.

"You made a mess."

No I didn't.

My head was cocked to the side as I inspected their slashed throats and multiple stabs to the chest.

My heart beat echoed through the air-less house.

I caught the dark figure in the mirror.

I turned and faced it.

"I am the maniac," was written in blood.

A bright reflection caught my eye in the mirror.

The bloodied knife in my hand.

What had I done?
