Cristina POV

"Alright, your total will be $7."

He takes out his wallet and pulls out a $20 bill. He places the bill on the counter, and I grab it put it in the register. I gather his change and quickly hand it to him before I quickly start preparing his order. I begin pouring coffee when he starts talking.

"You look quite familiar. Have I seen you before," he asks.

Oh no

He remembers

I start putting the lids on the cups and turn around to hand him his order.

"I'm not sure," I lie.

"I swear I've seen you some-" he gets cut off by the ringing of the doorbell. I quickly look over to the door and see no other than my best friend, Rafael. There he stands by the door with his dark brown hair and green eyes. His six-foot figure is standing by the door with a white t-shirt, light blue jeans, and white vans. Wow! His sharp jawline and freshly shaved face look so good under the sun's reflection. Too bad he's my best friend, but I must say he is handsome!

I haven't seen Rafael for about two years. The last time I saw him, he was beginning to work out and barely took over his father's company. He is super intelligent and responsible. Whoever his future girlfriend or wife is, they will be fortunate.

"Rafael," I blurt out. He gives me a flashy smile before walking over to the register. I quickly walk out from behind the counter and give him the biggest hug ever. He returns the hug with his warm arms wrapping around my waist. I missed these hugs very much. "Cristina, I missed you" he kisses my forehead and places his chin on my head. "It's been a while since I have last seen you, and you look amazing," he says, breaking the hug.

"I would like to say the same thing about you. You have changed a lot in a good way," I giggle. I look over to the register and see the man still standing there, looking over at me. "Hold on a bit" I smile and go back. "I apologize. Would you like anything else?"

"Actually, yes," a slight smirk begins forming on his face. "I want a butter croissant warmed up, please," he says, pulling out the change from his pockets. "Your total will be $2," I say, looking up to him. He hands me $2 before dialing something on his phone and putting it to his ear.

I grab a croissant and put it inside the mini toaster, and patiently wait for it to warm up. I see Rafael sitting on a table by the window, looking outside to the streets. I was about to walk over to him when a conversation caught my attention.

"Yes, Alejandro, she's here. I believe she works here. I just ordered something to keep it waiting. Some guy that she knows came to the store, and they seem to be close." he says in a low voice, but I was able to hear him. I wouldn't say I like eavesdropping, but this sounded like they were talking about me.

Was he talking about me?

No girl, he wasn't talking about you.

But his description was so clear everything went together.

I was quickly brought to back to my attention when I hear him again. "I'll see you here," he says before hanging up.

I quickly turned to look at the mini toaster waiting for the bell to ring. Five minutes later, the bell rings, and I take out the croissant. I grab a small bag and put the croissant inside. I walk over to the counter and hand him the bag. "Here is your croissant" I smile.
