A freezing cold, snowy day was nothing for a man made of fire, right?

Portgas D Ace was walking through the little town the Moby Dick has sailed in couple hours ago, also being chosen as a part of the group in charge of bringing water and food supplies. He didn't mind the shocked stares fixated on his naked torso from the warmly dressed people, being already used to it. His search for food supplies was distracted, as his eyes wandered to the lonely part of the street he was in, seeing a lonely, shaking figure.

He found himself walking towards that person. Feeling something overly warm on her shoulder, she opened her eyes a bit, just enough to see a toned arm, following it and realizing that the owner was a handsome black haired man, just about her own age as well.

“Hey, miss, you alright? You seem to be really cold.” He spoke up, like it wasn’t obvious. A weak grunt went through her lips, answering his question. His eyebrows began to form a little frown. She took notice of his freckled cheeks, and then his shirtless torso, wondering how such warmth could radiate from a man. “You know what miss? I’m going to get you to eat somewhere, is that all right with you?”

She shifted her head a bit, breaking her gaze. “I-I’m too cold to walk.” Again a weak response left her lips, making Ace frown a bit more again. She looked at his face again, this time seeing him smile a bit at you, taking notice of his face again, it having a bit of mischief on now. “No worries, I’ll carry you miss.” Ace said and laughed a bit. She didn’t really know why, but she felt like she could trust this man. “I, umm, ok.” She wasn’t sure how to agree to the proposal he made.

Suddenly, she felt herself being embraced by the warmth she felt before, her body leaving the ground as the man she just met put her on her feet an turning his back to her, pointing to his back. “Just put your hands around my neck, I’ll take care of the rest.” She did as he said, and when he started to carry her she gave in the warmth, now being able to fully feel its sensation.

Before she knew it, both of them were sitting at a neat table in a restaurant, plates of food not leaving much space on the table, Ace eating his heart out.

“Hey, mister,” she paused for a bit, leaving him time to swallow his food, then continuing, her gaze fixated on the food in front of her. “Thank you. My name is (l/n) (f/n).” Her cheeks had a pink tint to them, now that she wasn’t freezing anymore. “Portgas D Ace’s my name. You have a cute name you know?” She felt heat rise to her face again, muttering a quiet thanks and starting to eat her food.

She felt light weird sounds disturbing her eating pace, looking up only to find Ace fast asleep, with his head in the plate and his hand still holding the fork to where his mouth would be if he was awake and sitting properly. A grasp escaped her lips, thinking for a second that the snores were actually choking sounds, and just when she was about to ask for help, his body shifted back to its previous, sitting, state, cleaning his face with a napkin he found somewhere. Seeing how (f/n) still seemed to be shocked, he smiled sheepishly. “I fell asleep, it happens quite often actually.” (F/n) sighed a little, feeling relived.

“(F/n)?” Ace spoke up, (f/n) looking at his black orbs. “Do you have anywhere to go to? It wouldn’t be that nice of me to just leave you out in the cold again.” You closed your eyes and shook your head, making Ace tilt his and frown, probably in deep thought, or (f/n) liked to think so.

“Want to go with me? I’m in a pirate crew, Whitebeard pirates to be precise. Our ship’s really big, so you’d definitely have a place to sleep, and I’m sure pops would like you.” (F/n) widened her eyes at his statement. Go with him? Pirates? Whitebeard? She wasn’t sure how to feel about this. Would they make her a pirate? Ace seemed to notice her struggle; almost sure he knew what she was thinking. “You could just travel with us; you’d be free to do what you want, free to chose if you want to be a pirate or not. No need to over think that beautiful head of yours.” Ace smiled at her, noticing the almost invisible shade of pink replacing your troubled features.

“F-fine, I’ll go with you, but not as a pirate, n-not yet.” Ace laughed happily, offering (f/n) his hand. “Well then, now that it’s settled, let’s go then, shall we?” You laughed as well, taking his hand and letting him lead your way out of the restaurant and to the ship.

. . .

“Hey, they’re eat and runners!” A voice from the restaurant called out, making the both of them tense up.

(F/n) looked up to Ace, “You didn’t…” “I know,” Ace stopped in his tracks, sighed, and spoke loud enough to startle you, “RUN!” (F/n) obeyed his command. Then Ace turned to the voice that still yelled at them. “Sorry, I’ll pay next time! Probably! Not…” Starting to run himself he soon caught up with (f/n), taking her hand to navigate her to the ship, thinking that the crew (mostly Ace himself) really needed a nice, pretty girl with them.
