{This was written before true colours came out. Starts off in the human world but then goes to them in Amphibia. Hope you enjoy reading this 😊}
It was normal in the human world for everyone to be born with a black heart on the inside of one of their wrists. It has always been said that once you realise you have fallen in love with your soulmate, your heart will turn into your soulmates favourite colour. Sometimes it works out and the couples are very happy but, other times someone's soulmate will reject them and they will have nothing but a broken heart on their arm.
Marcy Wu has never given the soulmate thing any thought. Marcy spent most of her time doing homework, hanging with her friends and playing on her switch. She always brushed aside the thought of romance and claimed she had no time for it. She'd focus on her school work and then she'd go find her soulmate.
Marcy never joined in on any of Anne and Sasha's conversation about how they picture their soulmate. She simply ignored it. Nothing was going to distract her from her studies, nothing at all.
"Hey Mar-Mar!" Okay, maybe there was one person who Marcy could pay attention to for a bit. Marcy smiled and her face became warm as she watched her best friend Anne Boonchuy run towards her in the corridors. While Anne and Marcy both had Sasha, Marcy felt more close with Anne. Anne was always helping her and protecting her when things got tough. Anne was always making sure she got some sleep instead of staying up late playing Super Mario Kart till one in the morning. Anne was always taking care of her when she was sick and always introduced Marcy to new music or TV shows such as Suspicion Island. Anne always gave Marcy this fuzzy feeling inside. However, instead of spending too much time thinking about it, she pushed the feeling away and made the conclusion that this is just how friends feel about each other.
"Hey Anna banana! What's up?" Marcy asked as Anne stopped in front of her to catch her breath.
"I need your help with some homework. Miss Carter needs me to get it done or she'll throw me into detention again." Anne sighed and placed her hands together as she began to beg Marcy. "Marshmallow please. I can't go to detention again this week or my mom will kill me,"
"Hmm I don't know," Marcy teased. Anne then gave Marcy her famous puppy eyes, ones she would normally give to Marcy when she needed help, and Marcy completely caved.
"Ok, ok," Marcy laughed as Anne jumped up with joy.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Anne smiled as she wrapped her arms around Marcy in a tight hug. Marcy's heart sped up a little but, she took no notice.
"You can come over to my house later today if you'd like," Marcy suggested.
"Sure, I'll text my mom after school," Anne smiled and Marcy's hands became sweaty just by looking at her smile.
"Come on we got to get to maths now," Marcy said to Anne.
"Lead the way Miss Wu," Anne joked using an accent. Marcy laughed as they began their walk to maths.
Marcy couldn't wait to study with Anne. Sasha was clearly not happy about studying and said something about going somewhere else but, Marcy paid no attention. She kept focusing on Anne. 'Wow, Anne's hair looks really fluffy.' Marcy thought to herself. 'Is it weird that I kind of want to touch it? ...Yeah, that's probably a bit too weird,'
