Wave Riders

Chapter One

As I walks around this huge school trying to find the office everyone seems to be ignoring me and I can't really get anyone's attention. It's like I am invisible or something.

"Excuse me? Can you s-" I try to ask but they walk straight past me.

"May I h-" Cut off again.

Far out this is going to take all day. My books fall to the ground and my pencil case slides a little from my feet.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't paying attention." I say while I bends down to pick up my books.

"No it's totally my fault, sorry" A raspy voice says.

I collect the last of my things from the ground and stands up to be met with these amazing brown eyes. I start to look like an idiot because I was just staring into these amazing eyes.

"Um, I'm Lachlan, you must be the new girl?"

"Yeah, the name's Rose." I answer.

"Wow, Rose, like the flower?" A voice says behind Lachlan.

"Haha not quite, my mum named me that because of the famous actress that died."

"Rose Parks?" The unknown guy states

I nod.

"Nice, I'm Isaac." The man standing behind Jack says.

"Well nice to meet you Isaac. Look I have to find the office so I better get looking."

"We'll escort you me lady." Lachlan jokes around and bows.

"Haha ok, as long as you don't do that again." I announce.

"You got it." Isaac says while hitting Lachlan in the chest.

We all walk to the office and Isaac and Lachlan walk off to get to their first class. I walk into the office and met by a lovely looking lady.

"Hi, how may I help you?"

"I was looking for a schedule cause I am new."

"Well, you must be Rose then?"

"Yes ma'am that's me."

"Welcome to Wither Heights High." She says while handing me the schedule and locker number.

"Thank you."

I take it and walk out of the office. The hallways are deserted and so quiet you can hear a pin drop. I walk past lockers trying to find my own.

"23, no, 24, no, 25, no, 26, bingo." I say once I find my locker.

I put my unwanted books in my locker and walk to class. As I open the door of the class I had all eyes on me. 'I hate being the new student' I think to myself. 'I'm always the one left out and have no friends. Well except for Lachlan and Isaac.' I keep thinking.

"Welcome you must be Rose."

"Uh yeah that's me."

"Just take a seat next to Miss Jones." She says and continued with teaching the class about World War 2.

I walk to the seat next to a lovely looking girl who was writing notes.

"Hi." I say while sitting down and getting my books out.

"Hey." She looked up at me then continued writing notes.

I start writing down some stuff too.

"My name's Rose" I say to her with a warming smile.

"I'm Skylar, nice to meet you" she said hen goes back to writing notes.

"Psst, psst, Skylar." Someone said from behind them.

"What?" Skylar answered while turning around.

"Do you have a pen?"

"No"

"I do." I butt in.

"Thanks."

The teacher noticed that they were chatting.

"Mr Morris, Miss Jones and Miss Mitchell detention this afternoon. Now stop talking please." Miss Austin exclaimed.

The rest of the session was quiet. None of them were talking once.

RRIINNGG!

"Finally, it's lunch time." A student said.

Everyone starts packing up and leaving. I start walking to my locker and that's when I realises that Lachlan and Isaac's lockers are close to mine. They were standing there talking.

"Hey look, it's the one and only Rose." Isaac jokes around.

"Shh you weirdo's." I answer.

"Ok." Lachlan responded.

"Hey what's the surf like here? I heard it's awesome?" I ask.

"It's got the best waves." Lachlan answered.

"Yeah you should try shredding them. It's like magic." Isaac added.

"So you guys surf?" I question.

"Sure do, little lady." Lachlan exclaimed.

"Ok you can stop that now." I say while laughing.

"You surf?" Lachlan wondered.

"Sure do cowboy." I say.

"Hey guys, oh hey Rose I see you've met Lachlan and Isaac." Skylar says behind Rose.

I quickly turn around and smile at her.

"How do you know Skylar, Rose?" Lachlan asked.

"She's in my English." I answer.

"Oh." Isaac states.

"Well, Lachlan have you studied the waves for the big surf sesh this weekend?" Skylar asked.

"Yeah, it says the waves are going to be awesome." Lachlan asked.

They all walk towards the lunch hall. They line up to get their lunch and all pay for it. They all sit down at a table.

"So Rose, would you like to join us this weekend for our surf

"Bye guys I have to go to dance." I indicate.

"Hey my class is near there, I'll walk with you." Lachlan says.

"Ok let's go."
